fucked by a hosting company

hey guys, I bought a server not long ago from one of those unique individuals that sell hosting.

until the server got properly setup, I was already tearing off my hair...

once it was setup, half the people I sent the link to saw a page cannot be displayed (3 days after the server was setup)

the host is an ass about it and at the end, after MUCH arguying, he tells me he would refund me in about 3 days

I contact him back 4 days after and he says that he never took down my page (although he said he would, and I told him to) and that I have been using his bandwidth so he cannot refund me

I have not sent 1 hit except for the ppl testing it to his page.

and now he says I have to wait longer for the refund

it was a 100$ hosting deal, I know it's not much, but I want that 100$ back. I have a huge feeling he will not refund me

what should I do? (this hosting company is NOT on GFY)

I also have logs of our AIM chats

thanx in advance guys!

don't bring any drama if you're too scared to name names :321GFY

Forget the $100 you lost and spend your time making more money and finding a good quality host that you can trust...

Why you guys go with no-namers is still completely beyond me. Scam after scam, the cheaper fee just isn't worth it.

hey Sly, the reason I chose this hosting company is because they offer something most hosts do not: Bulletproof hosting

for my general hosting needs I use top quality guys :thumbsup

I could mention names, but find it pretty useless since he does not post on GFY

Bullet proof hosting. When you're wrestling with pigs you're going to get dirty once in a while.

I imagine you can.

$100 is way too cheap for any kind of legit bullet proof hosting. Is that a bit of an oxy moron "legit bullet proof hosting." Anyway if you are serious about trying out BP you will end up paying upwards of $500 for minimal bandwidth and even then there are tons of scammers waiting to steal your money. If your lists are somewhat legit it would probably be easier for you to find a mailing friendly host then go through BP. If you plan to straight out spam, host illegal content, etc, then you gotta pony up much more than $100, haven't done any BP myself but the only pal of mine who has and hasn't gotten scammed ended up paying about $5K/mo for a server with about 1-3mbps and even then he had constant connectivity problems with the upstream provider they were using.

I had to do this recently. If the transaction is less than 30 days old you can file a dispute with Paypal.

I waited too long so I had to do a chargeback through my credit card company, since that is how I funded the transaction through paypal. The credit card company gave me my money back, then Paypal launched their own investigation because of the chargeback, asking the seller for their side of the story.

Everything appears to have worked out, paypal says the dispute is closed and my Paypal account is still open, and I've got my money back.

nice

but the thing is, he DID deliver the hosting, it just SUCKED ASS
I even canceled the subscription like 4 days into the month

do you think paypal will accept that as a reason?

Not sure. I had about 30 pages of printed emails and even a printout of a message board thread that I mailed to Mastercard that showed without a shadow of a doubt that the service I paid for was never delivered, and I would assume that was forwarded to Paypal.

Might be tougher for you if the hosting company puts up a fight. You will have to have everything documented, hell, even print out your server stats if you think it will help your case.

I have 2 GFY threads showing that approx 50% of ppl couldnt see the page
and I also have AIM logs of me arguying with him about the hosting and asking for a refund

but I have no previous AIM logs of me complaining to him about all the other problems

I will give him 2 more days to refund me, if not, I will file a paypal thingy

brizzad 01-23-2004 04:56 PM

that sucks man

you're one of the few people that's actually nice and cool to everyone on the board, i dont see why someone would fuck you over like this

SoundMan 01-23-2004 05:05 PM

what host was it?

Kick Ass Chat 01-23-2004 05:08 PM

This thread is funny.....LOL....you paid for some cheap ass scamming "BP" host so you could pretend to be a spammer. Then you got ripped off from the scammer due to the fact he was not set up to be a real BP host, and now your complaining??:Hollering

webair 01-23-2004 05:09 PM

with bullet proof hosting it is 99% guaranteed you are going to get fucked now-a-days.

BTW...keep an eye out for that crook bitch KIKI, aka susan hayes, aka fucking theif BP hosting scammer :321GFY

Was it ProHosters? They got a scam going where they are trying to collect on cancelled accounts for years of unpaid bills.
