How do you search for sponsors?
 

How do you look for sponsors to promote? Ask other people you know on icq? Check with the boards to weed through the dozens of posts from sponsor reps pushing their own company? Go to resource sites to find listings?

it's a lot better than starting threads saying "spam me with * sponsor"

but I realize that people like to hear from as many people as possible about a sponsor first just incase there are any horror stories too.

Thing is, 99% of the time when I see "spam me with..." all I see is sponsor reps posting their programs. No real opinions from people who've promoted them.

also that affiliate program makes it easy to get webmaster referrals

someone goes to the site and looks at the sponsors and picks one and goes to "your referral link"

and you get a comission

all you have to do is enter in your referral codes into the db

i go to every resource site that has a good listing. i ask friends. i ask on boards. i read threads about sponsors. if i see a gallery i like, i go to the sponsor site to see if i like it. i check out board sigs.

other than that, i don't check around for sponsors at all :Graucho

I agree, but I also look at the rep of those that I see and what they write as well...I refuse to do biz w/ ppl who have warped opinions and are ignorant..:2 cents:

I look for the bigggest loudmouth and promote them.. always works for me

Try all sponsors till you figure out who makes you the most at the end of the day.

It's also good to contact a program before you send to see how they respond and help.

Mostly from the boards. Then I look at their sites - if they don't appeal to me I don't bother... After taht I only send few clicks a day for 2-3 months - if I get good ratio I start sending some good traffic. I'm wierd, I know :)

Pretty much the same. I promote such weird stuff, there arent that many other places that have my niches. So, I have to ask a lot of different people.

But, I definatly check out the site that im promoting first, before promoting it. Im very picky about what I promote.
