selling a diamond ring
GFY being such a diverse source of knowledge, I thought I'd ask here...
A couple years ago a friend of mine broke up with his fiance, and gave me the ring. I've now carried it though a couple of moves, but I really don't want it. I took it to the mall for a free appraisal and they quoted me $300; but they don't buy rings, only take them as trade-in on other diamond rings. I don't even like diamonds! so... what's the smart way to sell a diamond ring? (don't say eBay) I am going to guess a few of you have experience selling stolen jewlery :winkwink: |
Pawn it? :p

What's wrong with eBay?
There's 13,000 rings on eBay and it looks like they get a lot of bids. http://search.ebay.com/search/search...ategory2=15176 |
you could put an add in the paper but then people are gonna call you all the time. quickest way is a pawn shop i think, but you'll never get close to what it's worth.

might as well call it a lose now and save yourself some time.

By the sounds of it you didn't pay for it. Anything you get for it is pure profit. Go pawn it and get rid of it. You might only get $30 or so but its better than a kick in the nuts :)

but then I also wondered if they were being honest, since they were trying to get me to trade it up. |
