EBAY & Original Art Sales

Been futzin' around with EBAY sales of original art and litho-prints.

Can't believe how lucrative this is! For those of you who don't know I'm also a fine artist especially in watercolors. I stay outta oils because it takes too long unless it's something I really like doing ( like book covers ).

Anybody every buy or sell art on Ebay? How'd it go?

With me, If I print 500 - 1,000 limited editioned autographed prints I spend a few hundred bucks doing so. Not like the 2 or 3k just years ago and advertising in magazines. Now with the web I can reach millions with a mouse click, do my own prep work at home or at the office and just ship to order. The changes in this end of the industry are just fantastic. Will definitely be spending way more time from now on doing fine art prints to fans.

That's the ticket. If you have 1,000 die-hard fans ( and I've got wayyyy more than that having been in comics for years ) and you release limited edition prints at even $50 a pop that's $50k with piss overhead. You can release monthly or quarterly or yearly and the fans eat this stuff up.

Shows what the web can do when you think outside the box.

( I knew I was on to something when art speculators would jump on any announcement I made and tried to buy up the runs in bulk. Same guys fucked up the comic book industry doin' that shit. )

I've been watching this for a while too. Original art - even simple drawings - seem to do pretty well. Give us a link to one of your auctions?

I'll do that later this year. I've got a full year of extra goodies. Several new books of my art are being published with info on how to do the Ebay thingie.

Before I became a 'pornmeister' I was ( and am still ) a top knotch fine artist. Did newspaper stuff and set alotta patterns for what we do on the web today graphics-wise. Sports toons to editorial toons to comic books.

I'm soooo busy, I've got 3 comic books in developement for film/tv and toys, 4 novels due within 2 years AND art books etc. not tom mention my pocket project of doing an adult toon site.

So I'm famous enough, no prob there. You'ld be suprised if I told you my pen names.

So for several years I've been helping other artists get their gear together FOR Ebay sales. It's really very easy!

So later this year I'll be releasing 4 lithos of my world famous pencil art ( perhaps 4 water colors ) for purchase/auction on Ebay. That's a easy revenue stream of $2.5 million fromHOME! And yes my shit grows in value dude! :) So I'll hit you on ICQ too.

Tia, Julian, I'll be sending you both emails shortly.

What I do on my main site isn't just 'porn'. 'Porn' is the hook to get attention. I like to show people 'how' the cartoons are made. That's what has been the big draw ( no pun intended ) to my site in the first place.

What people have liked about my art over the past 28 years is my sketch art. I don't trace stuff. I draw straight from life or the imagination. I don't 'cheap' the fans.

I'm a master sketch artist. Portraits, sports and life sketches. You would love my sports sketches but most of em' are in news archives all over earth and in my vault library at one of my lawyer's offices. I've been spending years just having fun doing comic books, animation. Yet no matter what I do, the sketches get the big attention. Here are some examples below of project sketches in pencil and water color. Each is from either a comic book/animation project or for my adult cartoon site.

This toon above is from a toon series on my site. I normally draw the stuff in non-repro blue pencil for print. I was just updating my site but soon as I post a sketch it's inevitable I'll get umpteen emails about if someone could buy it.

This 3 panel watercolor sketch painting was for a comic book series I wrote and illustrated 12 years ago. It was for the design team. I couldn't get out of the office with the original painting because one of the execs almost tackled me for it. I put this up on one of my first websites and got lots of requests for more but I was in production stuff then. Now I can scan it for a book of art.

Now this one is from a horror/skateboard comic series that came out 14 years ago. It's now up for film developement AGAIN. Believe it or not, this is one of just a few sketches that got me the project greenlighted. With today's laser scanners you can get all the fine drawing details which makes printing lithos more fun.

On Ebay, you can sell sketches, full paintings etc. A big variety. So for the next 2 years I'm booked to the gills with work. Had to get over the past 6 months with family deaths and what-not but took last 3 weeks to spend back on the job. It's paying off well and am looking forward to an awesome time to come.

If you guys need stuff to sell, I'll have a boatload during the coming year believe you me! Especially graphic novels. Could sure use some booksellers and even new procedure I'm working on for webmasters regarding publishing that I think is gonna revolutionize the way we distribute and sell comics.

If you're serious you can make a mint. I've got enough ground force salespeople but could use some online ebay saavy folks.

Reason being I'm putting out a series of sketches and watercolors later this year. Perhaps early Spring. These lithos are autographed limited edition maximum print run of 1,000 each at $50 t $100. Believe you me test runs show they'll sell out fast. Problem is the speculators. They wanna buy in bulk at stupid discounts and I'm not having that. Because what they do is hoarde them doubling the price overnight. The public doesn't get the prints and then get pissed off.

Fans are life!
