Yah, Indiana is great except it's cold here right now. If you are an outdoorsy type that likes hiking and camping, the Hoosier National Forest takes up about half the southern part of the state...it's huge and beautiful. Fishing is good. Crime is low. Schools (in the suburbs) are good. Property taxes are low. Cost of living is low. You can get a house here for $100k that would cost you 5 times that in California or New York.

if you have never visited here, it's an experience. if you live here over 10 years, then it just seems like a state (ive been back here 14 yrs now) and place to live.

i would recommend nyc a place for all to visit. the people here are rude yet brutally honest and i guess that's why i like it. mayberry and neighbors saying hi with the pearl white smile isn't for me. :)
