CIA contradicts Bush speech, says Iraq heading for civil war
WASHINGTON - CIA officers in Iraq are warning that the country may be on a path to civil war, current and former U.S. officials said Wednesday, starkly contradicting the upbeat assessment that President Bush gave in his State of the Union address.
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/7765415.htm Are conservatives happy we have a president willing to lie to the American people about civil war instead of a blowjob? :1orglaugh |
Yep that's why the Shiites have been protesting for representative elections. Because they are the majority and can take control of the country, and the other groups are going to fight it. And the Kurds in the north have already said they want a seperate state.

curious if we will still be in iraq in a year

President Bush may seek an additional $40 billion or more for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan next year -- on top of the $400-billion military budget he will send to Congress next month, congressional sources and budget analysts said on Wednesday. But Bush is unlikely to send the request to Congress until after the November presidential election to minimize any political damage, the sources said. http://wireservice.wired.com/wired/s...n_wi re_story |
I liked the bit about "restoring freedom to Afghanistan and Iraq" .. unbelievable statements!!
Tho.. no, it's not unbelievable - just another lie... |
Yeah we will be as long as Bush is in office. We "Made a promise to the Iraqi people. And that promise is the promise of freedom..."
That promise, and the fact that if they break out into civil war and a ruling party that's not in our favor gets control then we won't have access to the oil and Cheney won't have any contract money coming, will keep us from leaving totally. I'm sure a lot of people will die from other countries when coming to the Iraqi people's "aid" in the next year or so. |
They'd be so much better off with Saddam in charge. Poor Iraqis. We should put Saddam back in power and leave as if nothing ever happened.

If they don't self destruct they will have a wonderful country in 20 years. Unfortunately it's not going to be easy to convert an Arab country due to the religious and political beliefs they have in their own country. You know, no matter how much we help them, at some point they are going to start killing each other for power.
I dunno if it will be the guys with the black turbans and the short beards or the guys with the white turbans and catapillar mustaches but somone is going to start executing the other side en masse for at least a decade. It won't matter how many McDonalds and KFCs we give them. |
There's been some hearsay that US soldiers in Tikrit say its been pure chaos there, and its just media saying that everything is under control...

It seems like we all agree that southern style chicken burgers might be a good solution. Maybe we should send this thread to Bush.
Burger King is the answer! |
