Americans only - Have you ever travelled abroad??

I'm just curious... I saw a post here asking where you'd like to move and why and I noticed that most of you guys answered places in the US... So, my question is: have you ever travelled abroad, and if so where?

Also, you could say wich country you guys enjoyed visiting the most...

Katlicious72 01-21-2004 02:55 PM

I've already been to Amsterdam, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, and yes Canada of course.

Next on my agenda is in late June to go back to Amsterdam, and all over Europe hitting London, Paris and Italy.:)

Europe is more my style.

Most of the americans don't even know that there is a world outside USA. And that is good because nobody want's to see them anyway. Just let them stay in a stinking USA :thumbsup

And what you are doing in Brazil is fucking great! Making americans leave their fingerprints is fucking awesome! You have more balls then whole europe together :thumbsup

Coolest places? Amsterdam (for obvious reasons) and Spain (especially Barcelona). I pretty much dug everywhere I went...but would want to continue to reside in the U.S. (at least at this point in my life).

I have been around Canada, Mexico and much of Western Europe as well as Russia. Most US citizens do not even have passports and are ignorant of the rest of the world. Our ethnocentricity is whta gives people like Bush so much power. It is far easier to lie to ignorant people than to informed people.

Considering we export the worst of our culture the world is far better off without us.

Rinaldo 01-21-2004 03:16 PM

I've been to canada every carribean island but Cuba and europe... I have to say I could live anywhere in europe and the carribean except jamaica... and that generally the people are a lot friendlier in foriegn countries... I however will one day live in europe for summers and keep a house in south florida for business and fishing

Europe is great though and I would love to raise my children there once i have them... however I do not like the turmoil and the constant arguments between nationals

Why would u want to reside in the US?? just a question, not that there's anything wrong but that is a question that is not asked very often:thumbsup

To be 100% honest, it's what I know. I have dicked around with the idea about moving to Australia, but I've never been, don't know how I would make money, and it's fucking very far away.

I think you need to spend a lot of time in a place before deciding if it's somewhere you would want to live, and so far, that hasn't happened.

But I am open to the possibility...

Pornwolf 01-21-2004 03:47 PM

I've travelled all over and I love many of the places I've been. My Passport looks like a dog eared copy of an Nietzsche book in a college library.

The US is still my first choice of places to live. When it comes to working it's hard to beat this place. The only town I have found that can compete with the major US cities for an American is London. (I'm referring to offline work. )

Overall Americans don't speak many other languages so this plays a part in our choices as well. I speak a bit of French and Japanese but I don't want to hear it all the damn time around me.

Now, I have been thinking of learning a bit of Portuguese so I can come to Brazil and fuck all your women. Is this what you want?

Have you ever heard of supply and demand? If there wasnt a market for the imported products they wouldnt be there.

In other words nobody gives a fuck what one single person (you) wants. If the demand is there it will be imported.

You can drink Coca cola, water, tea etc. You can choose McDonalds or some other restaurant or you can eat at home. Choices are generally available. Maybe there are examples where you can only either buy an american product or none at all but I can't think of any. Even if that's the case it's still common sense that one can only sell what others are willing to buy.

Sarah_Jayne 01-21-2004 05:11 PM

i'm from middle of no where USA and I now live in London, UK. So, it is pretty obvious that i have travelled :)

Before moving to the UK I had gone to 25 of the 50 states plus DC (I was 19 so not that bad)..that is now 27, all of the eastern Provinces of Canda, a few places in Mexico and Aruba.

Now, I am slowly seeing most of Western Europe though that is being a bit slowed by having fallen in love with Belgium of all places so I keep finding myself back in Belgium but alteast I am trying to make it a different city most of the time.

Top on my lists of 'not yets' are - Germany, China, San Francisco, Italy and Australia but really I pretty much want to go everywhere that I wouldn't be shot for my passport and/or having ovaries.

Greece and Holland have been my favorite places. I'd gladly live either place though Holland much more so.

Turkey has been my least favorite place.

What does the US Export

Movies, bad example of any culture because most are nonsense.

Money with lots of strings attached. Like you can have our family planning money as long as you do not use it for abortion. You can have our antidrug money to poison your farmers and eliminate their only cash crops.

Tourists who expect everyone to speak English

Our military who will live on bases like American suburbs and never even come in contact with your culture.

Bad ffod like McDonalds and CocaCola so your children can become obese also

Shoehorn! 01-21-2004 06:48 PM

Every few months. Favorite place is by far Sweden. Probably move there soon.

I didnt say everything that goes on is good but my statement is true. The only reason we export the things that we do is because the citizens of his country want them.

all about Europe and also Canada/Mexico. Of all the places I've been, Edinburgh Scotland was the best. I would move there in a heart beat. Trying to talk my fiancee into going to Veteranarian school in Scotland.

Course, I live in Seattle right now. I'm a fan of gloomy cities. Scotland is like Seattle, just a shitload older and the people were more friendly, heh.
