Depends on

Channel
Time Slot
How many you buy
30 sec or 60 sec spot
etc.

I need a broker or a one point company that will book and arrange them for us.

gornyhuy 01-21-2004 09:12 AM

Are you planning on promoting your sites on TV or is this an offline venture?

non adult related its for my mainstream biz, offline ads have worked local tv spots worked and simply want to reach more people using TV.

Clear Channel

I have used this guys before with radio advertising and they had over 1200 radio stations. They gave us a hell of a deal :-)

Looks like they have allot of good TV stations also, might give them a e-mail and see what they can do.

funny how many people still think that most spots on TV are joint ventures with the stations.

Same people believe you can buy a house no money down.

thanks KRL I forgot you use to be heavy in TV spots back in the good ol audiotext days

EB this is the company you want to talk to. They used to be under the name Western International Media but were acquired by IPG which is the world's largest ad agency group. The new name for their media buying service division is Initiative. Here is the contact info for the regional office in NYC. They buy more TV time than anyone else in the world. Billions of dollars.

You can get really good deals on buying spots that most companies don't go after late night.

Initiative New York

We're going to be buying some TV spots for Men.com this year.

Here's IPG's corporate roster of companies.

I know this is off the subject of TV but....It is nationwide advertising that work very very well.

The Thrifty Nickel

Cheap ads that reach Millions :thumbsup

I signed up over 1000 people to one pay per surfing the internet program and have sold tons of shirts and hats with them.

Just a program to look over when you have time :winkwink:

If it is cable ads I would call the regional cable companies individually. you'll get better deals I have the # for my time warner rep if you need mpls info. We ran a bunch of ads for our dsl and dial up services here localy.

But i would say get a list of cable companies and start dialing. asking for specials or unsold spots.

for networks youll probably better off using an agency.

Initiative is the large buyer of time in the US. They buy huge bulk blocks of cable time at steep discount and then parcel and packages the time slots for their clients. They're able to buy at rock bottom prices using that technique.

They have every market also. Its a pain in the ass and time inefficient to do media buying station by station if you are buying nationwide like EB is talking.

Pornwolf 01-21-2004 12:51 PM

KRL is totally right on that. Although you do sometimes get better rates contacting the cable networks directly the savings are minimal compared to the time and aggravation you save by going through a broker. I did it the long way for my first few products then realized a broker makes a lot more sense. I never looked back.

nap 01-21-2004 01:03 PM

there is still another source of advertising that i have yet to see people take advantage of, or realize its potential. in due time:)
