Mainstream Site Success?

How many daily visitors do you need on a mainstream site to make a decent buck? No porn ads cuz it's for all ages.

i just got a good idea, now i will go look on Google and find somebody else has been doing it since 1995.

nearly 8k posts and u ask an idiotic question like this.... it depends on so many things obviously.

galleryseek 01-21-2004 02:07 AM

LOL, indeed.

skrog 01-21-2004 02:10 AM

ah. leave mutt alone

Mr.Fiction 01-21-2004 02:10 AM

Once you pass 100,000 page views per day, you will be rich.

vapewiz 01-21-2004 02:15 AM

All depends on the niche... i'm guessing ringtones and cell phone type stuff is going to be the next BIG non-adult thing.

But like i said depends on niche if its something that people are looking for and know they will have to pay for most likely less traffic will work. If its jokes site or something it will need more page views to make money.

What he said!

:winkwink:

My ex ran this site http://www.fatcatcafe.com for about 7 years.

At it's peak (3-4 years ago) it had about 10,000+ visitors per day and was generating 40 - 50k per month from being in the about.com/sprinks network

... funny thing though, 7 months later it was still generating about the same amount of traffic YET about/sprinks had cut payouts and only paid her for partial inventory ... something like $1500 per month!!!!

She had a GREAT run though and made a KILLING for several months!

:winkwink:

In todays market she's only doing 100 +/- uniques per day and I have no idea what she's making if anything ... she's focusing on her other businesses.

BTW - that hook up with about/sprinks was thanks to good ole 12 clicks!

... I'm sure that didn't even come close to answering your question!

you know the goold old 12clicks owns mainstream

slavdogg 01-21-2004 04:45 AM

mut in non-adult is all depands on your niche and what you're selling

for example i have a lot of shitty non-adult traffic
at the same time i have some non-adult traffic doing well over $1000 cpm

it all depands on what you're selling and how you're monetising it

My gaming network [free hosting for game sites] was about 10-15,000 uniques per day and I was signing the UGO contract when March 2001 came ... so no idea how much you can make per thousand impressions right now. My guess will be ... not much.

Sly_RJ 01-21-2004 09:53 AM

A lot of people made serious bank from About.com back in the day. I was one of them.

okny 01-21-2004 09:54 AM

It all depends on what you are selling, promoting ect...

AndrewX 01-21-2004 11:01 AM

Mainstream is not a niche, you could say adult is a niche of 'mainstream'. Go do warez :D

Mike AI 01-21-2004 12:38 PM

Depends on business model.

I cant believe people pay money for damn ringtones.
Perhaps I'm alone but that is so stupid I can hardly breathe when I think about it. God. My Nokia came with like 30 rings - they all suck - so what? Is it that important to people that they pay hard-earned cash for this shit?

Though, now that I'm done being angry at them for being morons, I'll be in line to sell these piles of steaming worthless crap to them if they're buying!

I think they're only a couple dollars each and I'm assuming they can be charged to the cell bill, I really don't know. I bet teens take up a huge chunk of that market. I could easily see teens spending money every week on new hip tones.

My tone is retarded. I might buy one just so I don't have to hear this crap anymore.

http://www.google.com/adsense changed my life.

If you are clever enough to do well with SE in adult business (added: and you are willing to go mainstream), you should take a look at adsense.
