Any have experience discussing terms of intellectual property rights?

If so what sort of terms were of interested in under severance conditions.

For example a Music Band might record music with a Label.
CD's are distributed and the musicians recieve royalties on the created works. Life time royalty rights, or duration of royalty rights continue under some conditions.

The same thing can be attributed to the Net.
Basically I have always been into the "Idea" end of the net.
I provide idea's and even develop constructs, however I wanna be able to collect $ over some terms for created works and effort.

Any thoughts about terms conditions for development and royalties on developed works FOR COMPANIES?

Ever come to the conclusion that your time is better spent developing an idea and just letting the machine of a business carry it through and collect royalties?

Get stock in the company you develop ideas for. Don't just take royalties only.

A couple years ago I had two young guys approach me about developing a web site for them. I asked them to explain their industry. I looked at the service they were going to be marketing.
Studied it and said wow great industry but it really needs new technology implementation.

Next thing you know I'm on the drawing board coming up with a way to revolutionize the process of what they were doing. Presented it to them and they flipped over it.

We put together a company. I got a big chunk of stock. We raised the million dollar funding to develop the technology into a workable product, put together the techs to make it a working product and launched.

Filed for the patent on it.

24 months later we were acquired by a publicly traded health care company.

And to think this particular deal started from just someone asking me to do a web site for them.

I do not mind putting in the effort to build and create, stock options are always good, infact I got did an options a few years ago. Unfortunatly the Stock didnt exactly freak on a buyout:(

In the past I have helped build some pretty impressive shit however being stupid I never really covered my ass on the contributions I made.

These days I find myself turning a new page in seeking reward for the efforts I currently engage in from time to time.
