USA political question (and poll)

America has 2 political partys.

Quote:

Republican:

- economically conservative
for less tax, less gov't spending, less social programs.
- socially conservative
anti-abortion, anti-gay, pro-church, etc
Quote:

Democrat:

- economically liberal
for welfare, public health care, more education spending, etc
- socially liberal
pro-choice, seperation of church and state, etc
But wouldn't it make more sense to have 4 major partys?
  • socially liberal, economically liberal
  • socially liberal, economically conservative
  • socially conservative, economically conservative
  • socialy conservative, economically liberal

I'm sure the definitions of those words themselves are the basis of many arguements,
but the intent with which I'm using them here should be obvious.

POLL: which are you?

QUESTION: why only 2 partys and not 4? (or more)
or, why are opinions on abortion tied to opinions on taxes?

so noone else understands this either?

most of the pro-bush people on this board quote economic reasons
for supporting him, but I assume (being adult webmasters) that you
are not terribly conservative on "'ol fashion'd christi'n values".

so why should you have to vote in a bunch of bible-thumpers,
who want to see your industry outlawed, just to support a trade position
or lower taxes? These things have nothing to do with eachother.

why can't america seperate social positions from economic policy?

It matters because a lot of people (who otherwise wouldn't care)
have to vote against issues like gay marriage, abortion rights,
decriminalizing marijuana, censorship, and whatever else,
just to get a bit of extra $$$ on the end of year refund.

It has always appeared to me that the Republicans are using basic greed,
promising you more money, in order to support their wacky crusades.
I would like to see, if money was taken out of the equation,
how much support would be left for dictorial social policys.
