When we lived there, my son was driving down the road. He had to swerve to avoid hitting the man who was putting a cardboard box in the middle of the lane.

That box contained 6 six week old puppies.

In my life, I have never seen such cruelty to both children and dogs as I saw in the part of Georgia where we lived, during the three years we were there.

No. They don't have hearts.

They treat their children and their animals with a casual cruelty I've never seen anywhere else.

My ex partners were going to let a puppy starve because it wasn't a male.

This was rural Georgia.....

One of our adopted dogs was an eleven year old male who was 'dropped off' in our neighbourhood....Eleven years old...a Maltese Poodle....Can you imagine?

You could tell he was trained and spoiled...gave him a bath and he lifted his feet so I could wash his belly.

He did tricks, so we knew his owner may have died...and somebody put him in the car and just dropped him off in our county...common practise.

People like to bet on almost anything :disgust

I'm in a different area of rural GA than Raven was, but it's just as bad. We constantly get dogs dropped off in our neighborhood, there are dogs chained up, allowed to run loose on busy roads, etc.

I don't think it's just GA though. Most folks in rural areas view dogs and cats as livestock. Most cats are barn cats and don't even have names. They're there to keep the mice killed. The dogs are hunting, herding, or guard dogs. The animals aren't spayed or neutered and rarely get shots.

My dogs are currently sleeping on a quilt on a leather sofa and my cat is 100% an indoor cat. Needless to say, I feel there's a special place in hell for people who abuse animals. :mad:
