best registar these days?

what do ya think?

hyper 01-19-2004 04:15 AM

i use www.powerpipe.com

Mutt 01-19-2004 04:17 AM

Directnic. How can u beat being able to contact one of the owners almost 24/7 on GFY or Oprano if you have a problem?

And the ease of use of managing your domain account is second to none.

Dveron 01-19-2004 04:23 AM

namecheap.com gets most of my biz lately.

ditto, but directnic is great also :thumbsup

Voodoo 01-19-2004 04:27 AM

GoDaddy.com seems to be pretty good. PowerPipe.com is decent, until you have to renew an expired domain, they charge a $25.00 renewal fee. Not much, but, I don't believe GoDaddy does this.

:2 cents:

I haven't used Godaddy yet... I was looking at them recently, but haven't gone w/ them thus far. What invokes your hatred toward them?

Kicker 01-19-2004 04:33 AM

I use directnic:thumbsup

Odin88 01-19-2004 04:33 AM

www.namecheap.com

goBigtime 01-19-2004 04:35 AM

Best in what way?

Ah.. probably price (remembered your post from the other day)

Actually, I am going to be snagging a bunch of domains soon & will use Directi.com

If you sign up as a reseller (its free.. just have to commit to $75 worth of domain registrations a year) then you can get your domains for $6.49/ea basically...

I believe that might be the lowest wholesale price there is?

Mike AI is one of them, he posts here.

I use GoDaddy.com - no complaints so far but I haven't transfered domains which I hear is the problem part.

I never knew that. Interesting.

I've used Directnic for years and I think it's good stuff. Easy to use, good interface, etc...

alias_canadian 01-19-2004 05:05 AM

who do you like quiet?

do u guys have any suggestions for my site, planning stages presently.

sacX 01-19-2004 05:09 AM

i like enom. Only $6.95 if you prepay for 1000 domains. Filling out the paper work to setup my own registrar so i can get $6 domains :)

Directnic for support, ease of use and the fact that they've been in the porn game themselves and understand it.

For the guy who asked about GoDaddy do a quick search on this board or simply read their TOS. :)

AWW - Kevin 01-19-2004 05:20 AM

Directnic all the way for me

Same here, but their renewal emails are so annoying.

Voodoo 01-19-2004 05:46 AM

Web.com seems to have a decent deal. $6.95 TLD domains. Anyone have feedback on this registrar?

enom or bulkregister (namecheap resells enom)

directly accreditedt registrars (the 2 biggest after nsi I think) and both have free dns hosting

chodadog 01-19-2004 06:15 AM

Anything but godaddy. Seen way too much bullshit with unhappy clients at godaddy lately. Their spam policy is absolute bullshit.

I use registerfly 'cause they were the first domain registar that i found that let me pay with paypal. But there's nothing fantastic about them. Bunch of features i'll never use.

brutus 01-19-2004 07:05 AM

There's nothing wrong with the transferring stuff. They just suck because they disable accounts too fast. I just can't trust them.

brutus 01-19-2004 07:19 AM

With OpenRSR reseller account you are working directly with accredited registrar and you can do what ever you want with your domains... transfers, DNS changes, domain locking etc etc. Sure it is not intended to use with 20 domains... but if you have lot of em then... it is the right choise.

How much is it?

Do you have their price schedule?

Paparazzi 01-19-2004 07:26 AM

never had any problems with godaddy...

bogo 01-19-2004 08:17 AM

Go Daddy ,Gkg.net

goBigtime 01-19-2004 08:21 AM

As far as I can tell (searching usenet) OpenSRS is still $10 a domain?...

That's a little steep for Reseller pricing from a Registrar... you can get most retail single domain pricing for less than that now.

Sure... there are alternatives, but sometimes I prefer count also smooth operation / no problems... dollar / 2 or 3 does not mean very much if you dont have 5000 domains.

Here are their prices: yes, not best available, but...

.biz
.com
.info
.name
.net
.org
.us $10 per domain year

.ca $17 per domain year
.cc $30 per domain year .cn $35 per domain year
.de $8 per domain year
.tv $35 per domain year .uk $13 for two domain years
