Aston Martin - Pimp Car? Or Old Guy's Car?

Looking at this car

is it a shitty car? dont know much about aston martins, but they look nice to me.

what do you think? will i look like a little dicked loser if i buy one?

liquidmoe 01-18-2004 07:21 PM

Definitely a nice ride, F1 paddle gear shifts behind the steering wheel? Those are cool only if they rotate with the wheel, they didnt on the first 360 Modena that was kind of weird imo.

nice car for sure :thumbsup

liquidmoe 01-18-2004 07:28 PM

360 is a classic and its not even old, but with the paddles not rotating would create a few funny situations, I mean you shouldnt switch gears on turns, but still, small turns or small turning radiuses you can and having them in the same spot doesnt make sense.

LA Mike 01-18-2004 07:34 PM

Hooper... the Vanquish is pretty sick car dude. And dont worry about the paddle shifting. That works fine even though it doenst rotate.

fuzebox 01-18-2004 07:39 PM

Are you joking?

That's a fucking Vanquish.

Loser?!

I don't think there is a finer car made.

Vitasoy 01-18-2004 07:39 PM

Hooper 01-18-2004 07:42 PM

FlyingIguana 01-18-2004 07:43 PM

My old boss in Toronto had one of these and drove it to the office at least a few days a week even in winter. Never had any problems that I know of. Definately a classy ride.

serious 01-18-2004 08:03 PM

looks very nice, go for it :Graucho

Ash@phpFX 01-18-2004 08:04 PM

if you have to ask that question you dont deserve to drive one. they are fucking awesome man :thumbsup

RP Fade 01-18-2004 08:06 PM

Pimp..but British cars are notorious for being in the shop every month..

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 01-18-2004 08:07 PM

Its a Classy car Hooper bust that ass and get it:)

icedemon 01-18-2004 08:30 PM

The Vanquish is one of the cars where it doesn't matter who you are. If your young, it will fit you with that V-12 engine and sports car look. If your old, it'll fit you. It's got style, speed, class, looks, etc..

It's not like where your old and driving around in a Ferrari Tesstorosa and look like your going through a mid-life crisis. It's not like where your young and have a sports car that makes you look like you have a small dick. It's a car that does what it does and does it good. People will only thini that it's a nice car, you have money (with money of course comes high class girls) and that you have some style and class.

BlueDesignStudios 01-18-2004 08:32 PM

I've read some bad shit about that car, I'd say there is better for the money...

ztik 01-18-2004 08:41 PM

way over priced :2 cents:

Spunky 01-18-2004 08:45 PM

Nice cars but expensive for maintanance.

Actually, you're wrong. I own an F1 360 and an SMG M3 (both have paddle shifters). The M3's paddles move with the steering wheel and the 360's do not. When in the middle of a turn and your steering wheel is turned 180 degrees, it's a pain in the ass to shift the M3. In fact, I'll just ignore the paddle and shift with the center console stick (located where stick shifts are), which you can do with the M3 and cannot do with the 360. When in the middle of a turn with a 360 though, you just complete the turn with your left hand and shift the stationary paddle with your right.

axelcat 01-18-2004 10:58 PM

bad ass car

Yea, My spider has paddle shifters and I cant imagine if they rotated with the wheel.. I think that would suck. When they are stationary you always know where they are without having ot look for them.

Hooper.... thats an awesome car and near the top of my wish list. If I didnt already have a Dinan M5 with 500 horses I would get me one :)

BradShaw 01-18-2004 11:17 PM

Anything with paddle shifters is for pussies. Atleast that what GFY said to me a while back. Real men drive with a stick.

Of course, I love my F1 360......

maxdaname 01-18-2004 11:20 PM

definitely a pimp ass car

buddyjuf 01-18-2004 11:22 PM

110% PIMP!

Doctor Dre 01-19-2004 12:18 AM

Pornwolf 01-19-2004 12:31 AM

That is one of the best cars made right now!

Shoehorn! 01-19-2004 01:21 AM

Aston Martins are awesome.

BiggleJones 01-19-2004 01:22 AM

what kind of bs thread is this? WTF would even ask the that question. Watch Die Another Day.

Mr Pheer 01-19-2004 01:41 AM

I would think that if you could afford that car, you wouldnt care about what a bunch of fuckin webmasters think about it.

When i'm out buying my toys, people on GFY dont even cross my mind

avion 01-19-2004 02:12 AM

it's ok ....

I love Aston's this is my DB6 Mk 2 Vantage, I have owned this car simce 1976 and will never part with it.

I have driven a Vanquish and I think they are great cars, but nothing like the old ones.

RACEMAN :thumbsup

Kicker 01-19-2004 04:46 AM

I like aston martin:winkwink:

Mr.Soze 01-19-2004 05:06 AM

Pimp car for sure, I would trade it with my Mercedes anytime.

Thing is I would never be able to get an insurance for it here in Spain,
barely can get one for my Mercedes ($8-9000 a year...)
and that got 374 HP, imagine with the Aston's 460 HP......

Have to wait untill I'm 27, that's the allowed "insurance" age here in Spain.....

Tom H 01-19-2004 05:20 AM

Problem with the Vanguish is it takes about half an hour to do a 3-point turn as the paddle shifts are very messy when selecting reverse. Flair car tho.....

Old Astons were guilty of raiding the Ford's part bins tho and the DB7 actually had the same locks as the Ford KA!!!!!!

All soved now tho..... check out the new DB9 Volante and the soon to arrive baby AMV8.... Awesome cars!

nasko 01-19-2004 06:59 AM

Aston's are very very expensive for maintenance.

raceman 01-19-2004 07:04 AM

Not for me I uised to own a garage/shop that specialised in them so my humble DB6 I can strip and rebuild by myself......

Aston Martin is great looking car, very unique, never drove one but would be one of my first choices of exotic cars.
