and you clear your schedule off. then you get all psyched up ...that you're going to shoot this hot 18 y/o ... and then

they don't show.

That's part of this business. I have told some girls I need the photos by a certain day so if they don't show I will get a different girl, or not pay them as much for a later shoot. Still they flake!:glugglug

Get them to confirm they are coming 24 hours before the shoot. Explain that some girls do flake out and you don't want to miss a shooting day and with 24 hours notice you can get another girl to fill in.

That's great too. Also, keep all the agents & random talent's phone numbers on you on set. Agents have hot overpriced talent sitting around complaining about not working all the time calling them 24-7. Also, remind good models that alot of girls are irresposible flakes and that you appreciate them being - on time, prepared, well rested, & professional. Tell them that you may call them as a pinch hitter @ a moment's notice to work so that they should allways have all of thier gear on them or in thier car. I called thier shoot bag the $1000 suitcase because if they didn't have it with them at all times - then not having it would one day cost them $1000.

You must be a newbie :1orglaugh We've talked to models the day of the shoot, confirmed they're coming, give them directions and they STILL don't show up. Then there are days (rare) when we book 3 models and they bring 4 friends along with them.

it is a royal pain and absolutely nothing can be done about it, the agents talk a good game about making things better like picking up the girls but let's face it - we're dealing with stray cats and knuckleheads, they are in control, as much as some guys in the porn biz think they are pimps. Girl can shut down a day of work work thousands of dollars - she is the tail that wags the dog.

exactly - u can't trust a word they say - sometimes they'll say their car is broken down on the side of the freeway - then my guys says 'ok where are you, i'll pick you up' - of course she's not on the side of any freeway, she's in some shitty apartment with a loser boyfriend doing whatever layabouts do all day, smoking weed, playing video games, whatever.

Add actresses and mainstream models to the list of flakes. Used to happen all the time when I shot blackbooks in NYC.

Picking them up certainly works - especially for our teen models. I think it does because most still live with their parents so just the thought of my assistant going to "greet" the old folks and ask for our model gives them the chills :winkwink:

We've had them show up WITH the loser boyfriend who then tries to squeeze more money for the shoot.

both my guys have a no boyfriend policy. also won't shoot girls who only work with their boyfriends - the scenes tend to suck. you need a stud who knows what he's doing.

I still am for the picking a model up before each shoot.

We do have a friend/companion/whatever allowed only on the first test shoot/application process. After that they are to show up to the shoot with no others. I also rarely if ever will shoot boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, or model and guy with any sort of relationship. It is not that the scenes suck per say, it is they lack that special feeling or light or whatever you wish to call it.

You will never get better footage ussually than when two people hook up for the very first time. I personally like the nervousness, surprise and sense of the unknown it captures. With couples most of the time everything is to rutine.

I talked to some guys i know here in San Diego that shoot a lot of content for my sites, LegalPictures.com and the story's they tell me about models not showing up, airline tickets wasted and time lost is amazing. They paid for the flight of one model from NY to San Diego set up a castle location two make-up artists a stylist, lighting assistant, two male models and hired wardrobe and guess what even after getting a signed contract the model didn't show. The result was a loss of some $5000.00 plus a client who was waiting for the images. They have stopped using models found on the net and only use agency's now. Its seems to be worth the extra $100 per day for the piece of mind, knowing that the talent will show up?

We ended up with a stellar cast 2 days later & the replacement girl (Alysin Chaynes) was WAY BETTER than that FLAKE AUTUMN AUSTIN!!!

I have been having a flaky couple weeks too. Even when you call them and set things up well in advance, the day before you get the calls... "oh... something came up I can't make it.."

As for charging them... I would love to, if I thought they had any money to pay me with...
