Anyone have the Canon EOS 10D ?

How do you like it? Pros & Cons?

I'm thinking about getting one of these. Post sample pics if you have some nice ones.

Thanks!

After months of research - I purchased a 10D just this past week. I haven't had a chance to shoot any content with it, but I know it's a *sweeeeet* piece of gear.

I've been a NIkon shooter for 15 years - but Canon has stolen my heart.

You can't go wrong with the 10D bro' - go ahead and buy one - you'll be glad you did.

I've been a Nikon fan for forever, but Canon has the edge now in digital and I'm switching over.

I have the 10D.

Make sure you get some decent Canon glass with it, though, so add that into the price.

Also, I got the optional power-pack, battery grip... you can shoot twice as long, plus it makes the camera feel more substantial and look more professional.

One of the nicest features, which will also save you time, is the camera's ability to automatically rotate the images you shoot -- all verticals come out of the camera already flipped... nice!

Go to http://www.dpreview.com/gallery/canoneos10d_samples1/ to see sample pics from the camera.

Some people bitch about the camera's (in)ability to focus through the lens with non-Canon glass. I think those people are just fucked up, though.
I've had no focusing issues at all.
Plus, the autofocus is blazingly fast... much faster than I am, and I've been shooting for more than 15 years.

Get it... you'll love it.

I have the d60 and its fucking awesome...this is the follow up if im correct so it can only be better! Go for it!

Yes keep in mind you need a good lens. I believe my lens was 2nd hand 800 bucks.

You are correct, sir!

I have had the D30 and D60... the 10D is even better. Best new feature is the auto-rotate... the next best is the (much) improved autofocus.

Also, the downloading software (by Canon) is much nicer.
Allows you to prefix all the images at time of download (Jane****, Sally****) and it also automatically creates dated folders (dated by date shot, or by date downloaded -- your choice).

It's great on so many levels.

Enough fucking gushing, now! :)

OK Donovan, you do plenty of shoots. Did you try the 10D? Is this emotional? What about speed - Nikon anythig vs. the 10D? I means speed to focus, shoot and store.

To be honest with you, I have NOT shot with a 10D. I picked one up in a camera store in San Francisco and messed around with it. Then, without giving any background to the store owner, I asked him if he'd used it, and how it compared to Nikon products. He told me that if I wanted a camera that would last longer and take more abuse, the Nikon couldn't be beat. It was only after he said that, that I revealed I already had Nikons.

I'd say this: if you live anywhere near a big city, rent a Nikon and a Canon and compare for yourself. Personally, I love Nikon's. They're very fast and stand up to a LOT of abuse. I don't treat my cameras very well. I don't baby them. I shoot the SHIT out of them. And they keep working.

And if you're looking for great skin color quality I'd recommend the Fuji S2 Pro. It takes all Nikkor (Nikon) lenses. It's slower than the D1x (I've never had personal experience with a faster digital than the D1x) but it's lighter and has a built in flash.

The Fuji S2 Pro is what Mutt's photographer (www.Wanton.com) uses. Check that site for an idea on quality.

Wow - haven't read up yet on the Canon software - but that could really be nice for shooting content. I was under the impression that the software was only helpful if you were shooting in RAW mode - which I have no use for when shooting content for the internet. Thanks for the headsup!

I've had one for about 6 months now and absolutely love it. One of the best electronic items I've ever purchased. It works exactly how a digital camera should.

http://www.johnvalbright.com/

All pics on that site were taken with it. There is a 3000x2000 version of them which is the original jpeg images with the borders trimmed off. It also has a raw format which naturally is even a little more detailed.

I definately recommend it.

As for the Nikon, I'm sure it's a great camera and a matter of personal preference. But

Is certainly not much of an arguement for it. Sounds like something out of the political threads here, lots of statement with no substance behind it.
