Not exactly Panama or Mexico here - Costa Rica :-)

I am not familiar with Mexico, but know more about Panama - fire any questions and I'll try to answer!

Why Mexico or Panama, - probably the best place in Costa Rica (for many reasons) - we moved here a few years back after researching the whole region.

Why do you want to move? Taxes?

Panama is a great song.

I had been to Panama & Costa Rica last year, to Mexico in 2002. All of them are great countries - my personal favorite being Panama because it has remainded pretty untouched by int'l tourism.

I thought about moving there but finally decided to stay where I am because I fear that after a few months of sund & sea this would become boaring.

Let me know what you need to know ... maybe I might help you: os{@}jennycards.com

A largish home (rentals) is around $2000K and up... an apartment starts at around $300 ish. Domestic staff is low in comparison to the "civilised" world - a maid is about $250-300/month.. same for a gardner.

Porn.. ya need to chat with Jennycards for "specifics", but on net stuff, there is no problem (as long as it ain't anything to do with CP)

Citizenship.. your US passport is fine - but ya need to check your wife's status tho - but there are "ways" :-)

Models are no problem.. and cost is less...

Of all my encounters with cops - the first thing is we shake hands :-) (Once that was after a time I decided to reverse into their car and crunch the hood! *g*) The next is more like em doing something to "actually" help - I've never experienced more friendly cops in any "civilised" country.

I am referring to Panama ...

In Panama City it's almost like in a major city in the U.S. In other locations it's pretty damned cheap. Although it might be very difficult to find a _nice_ house.

If you don't sell it in the streets I can't imagine anybody taking care.

I never had any problems with them. Bureaucracy may be tough though.

Citizenship
It's pretty easy ... more or less a question of proofing you have a stable flow of money from outside of Panama.

Hey. Thanks for that Info!!!

Jenny you Live in Panama???
It would be great to have someone to chat with once we got there..

We are working with some people here that are telling us that we will need to incorporate there and it will be like 500$
And then use the company to get our green cards and eventually a citizenship..

As for my wife, the situation that we face is that once she leaves the US she can not come back. She is here legally, but with the way the new administartion is running things they are making it so that Cubans that do not have citizenship are being harrased. If we want to wait for her citizen ship we have been told that it could be up to 4 years or more, and there is no guarantee that she will get it. We just dont want to wait aropund and see what other things they can come up with.

Anyone else????

And thank you all for the responses...

jennycards 01-18-2004 11:13 PM

Pornguy,

No, I am not living there but have incorporated there. Incorporation is quick, easy and cheap but getting a bank account is a very difficult process ... they told me that since 9/11 banks are getting lotsa pressure from their american "friends" to take measures against "terrorist money" & things ...

I understand that you need the following to get a Panamesian citizenship:
- Negative AIDS test
- Good-conduct certificate (I guess your wife won't get this from her government )
- Some $1000 per month stable income from sourced outside of Panama (you will have to proof this) ... for example: a pension, interests from bonds, ...

I suggest you join the following Yahoo! group, read the archives and then ask some questions ... I am sure they will be helpful:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/viviendo_en_panama/

I also suggest that after getting as much information as possible, you both go to a Panamaesian embassy and talk to them, especially about your wife.

Good luck to you & your wife!

Thank you Jenny!!!

We have actually alreadu been in contact with the Panama emabssy here in Fl, and they have been very helpfull. We are waiting for the vise for my wife, and then once we get there we are being told that an attorney will help us change the type of visa that she has, so that she can stay longer than 90 days, and then we will apply for the green cards. Any idea about the actual cost for the incorporation???

And once again thank you.

jennycards 01-19-2004 12:10 AM

Pornguy,

It's about $1000 and includes nominee service (which you might not need if you actually live there).
If you email me I can give you the address of my attonery. os{at}jennycards.com
