Probilling

Dear Probilling Merchant,

As you well know, these have been challenging times for all online credit card processing companies. We have decided to concentrate on our rapidly growing market of alternative payment processing solutions. ACH processing is the future of online commerce and is the most viable solution for eBusiness transactions. As part of our new focus, we are offering our existing account holders a preferred rate on our ACH processing.

Effective Midnight EST Tuesday Jan 20, 2004:

SmartCheck at 7%

DirectCheck at 10.5%, with No NSF's, No reserves, No chargebacks and instant proBilling account funding

Due to the increased scrutiny by the credit card associations we feel that we can no longer offer reliable credit card processing as part of our portfolio of services. We have decided to withdraw from Visa and MasterCard high risk processing according to the following schedule:

MasterCard: Immediately

Visa: Midnight EST Tuesday Jan 20, 2004

All accounts at our acquiring banks remain open and in good standing. All proBilling account holder's FUNDS ARE COMPLETELY SECURE; weekly holdbacks and regular payouts will be dispersed as usual. Your account will remain open and accessible at www.proBilling.com. All password management functions, consumer and merchant services will be operating as normal.

This is NOT the closure of another online processor. This is a business decision made to focus on the future of online processing and we look forward to a long and prosperous business partnership with our valued merchants.

I'm sure this has been discussed but could not find it in the search facility, so who's got any comments?

Are Visa out of here or are Probilling one of the 1% casualties?

Digipimp 01-17-2004 08:44 AM

You coudn't find it by searching? There are only 15 threads or so and it sucks but it's life and who's next is the question of the day.

I don't think Probilling played by the Visa rules. So that's why they are out of the game. CCBill and iBill play by the Visa/MC rules so they will be the last to go.

OH HELL!!! I am so glad I listened to my gut on that one....... I came within minutes of signing up with that one and backed out literally at the last minute!! :eek2

DeadFidel 01-17-2004 09:09 AM

Oh well I read and learned, but by that time it was a little too late. Those fuckers have $3600 plus of my fucking hard earned money PLUS 200 or so active rebills which I will never see.

Paul Markham 01-17-2004 09:28 AM

We don't have rebills, but they are holding some of our money.

They were only clearing US card holders and charged too much so I don't think they are holding a lot of money.

Found out why I could not see the threads, typed in Probiiling.

I know "I'm an idiot"

Why are all those billing companies who made plenty of money out of adult businesses are too damn scared to sue Visa?
Visa took advantage of there monopolistic position to put you out of business, isn't it time to sue? Or is it only Microsoft who gets sued for any stupid reason people might come up with?

I don't think they are scared. They just don't want to spend the money sueing. Some of these billing companies also just used the excuse of Visa and acctually just took the money and left town. Probilling is the first of these 3rd party billers that just didn't pack up and leave with everybodies money.

Anyway you look at it, if you have CC rebills with them, you can kiss them goodbye. Probilling sucks...........always did.......and now they are basically gone.

Or better still they come togethewr and approach another card with a scheme for pushing their card as a payment option.

Visa will never drop the Interent as a whole, especially if there is another card ready to take up the slack. Imagine one day you can buy on the Internet with your Visa, next day you can't. Then another card is put up as an option, what will you do?

Millions will be signing up for the new card which will hurt Visa big time.

All of a sudden there will be 100k floating surfers looking to resign on or looking for another site to sign up to. Unless you think your sign ups and rebills are purely down to luck. This market moves around accept it.
