Have you seen the banner on GFY for phone card billing?
I think this will one day play a big role and change the industry.
I actually had an idea like this but never had the means to get it off the ground in addtion to my family telling that is was a stupid idea and they wouldn't go in with me.
But I'm seeing now that this was a brilliant idea.
This means bad news for rebilling but maybe this is even better news for smaller pay sites. These new billing methods allow you to sell a membership for under 5 bucks and still make money where as selling under $5 with credit card now is a waste of time(referreing to 3rd party processing).
I can see better oppotunity for us if phone billing or "internet cash" is used. First, there will be no more chargbacks, no more wifey seeing the credit card bill and what sites were joined, and no more slick rebilling that's is a rip off and scares way sign ups.
A pay site could make good money with just a couple of exclusive shoots. Example; you shoot some hottie in a hour of video; stripping, masterbation, then hardcore. Use pics to promote and sell membership to download the video for $4.95 and no chance of rebill. Kind of like buying a porn video in the store. But now imagine that instead of a video box with 2 sides of promo to sell the video you have a 5 page tour with 20 full sized samples to sell that video. I don't see why surfers will not go for that.
The current "low trial offer" model will fade away because sponsors don't really make money on the trial, they have to wait for the rebill which means having 1000's of $'s of content to try and retain the member. Why bother when you can spend $1000 on a shoot and bill $2.95 and actually make money?
Instead of spening $10,000 on content to get a $2.95 trial that makes nothing you can build 10 unique sites and charge $2.95 and get the sufer to join several sites. Surfers don't like doing this much now because they don't want to give up the credit card and risk getting ripped. If they get ripped on the phone card it's only $2.95 so who gives a shit?
Micro sites and micro charges might actually mean more money for us in the long run.
