Ledger up for gay western

Heath Ledger is reportedly in negotiations to star in the Ang Lee gay western Brokeback Mountain.

The Knight's Tale actor and Jake Gyllenhaal are set to play cowboy lovers in the movie, based on a story by E Annie Proulx.

Empire reports the film is set in 1960s Wyoming. It says Ledger is being lined up to play Ennis while Gyllenhaal would play Jack.

Colin Farrell and Josh Hartnett had previously been linked to the project.
