It was a very complex transaction. There were 3 law firms involved. I just paid $18,000 in legal fees to one of the firms. There were specific reasons benefiting both parties and protecting both parties as to why we structered a multi month escrow. A lot of factors had to be detailed out like intellectual property rights, trademark rights, indemnifications, and covering all the what ifs and there were pages of those.

We started the deal last July to give you an idea of how long it takes to get something completely worked out to everyone's satisfaction and a done deal when you're buying things in that price range.

Rick had one primary law firm and I think he actually had consultations with one or two others.

We had two primary law firms on our side plus some advisory work by Wall St. firms.

So there were actually even more than 3 if you throw in the other firms and advisors.

that's cheating. most law firms have consulting work done by other firms for speciality work. happens all the time and often people don't even know it.

you count the firms involved by the number of different law firm names you have to make the checks out to - that tells you how many firms were really involved.
if you made a check out to just one firm - count that as one.

otherwise you might as well say 100 law firms were involved......
