79.5 Million Chinese surfers are online - You'd better get your pages ready.
http://internetnews.com/ec-news/article.php/3299861
China had 79.5 million Web surfers at the end of 2003, a report by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) out of Beijing stated Thursday. The number catapults the country ahead of fellow Asia-Pacific region country Japan, which has 56 million Internet users but below first-ranked U.S., which has 165.75 million Internet users, according to the Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) World Factbook. According to the bi-annual Statistical Survey Report, China added 20.4 million new users this year, a 34.5 percent increase over last year. It's an amazing six-month leap; its previous report, the 12th Statistical Survey Report, showed 68 million Internet users. Officials determine an Internet user as someone who accesses the Internet one hour or more a week. "China's Internet market has great potential," a statement read. "It has already become the country's fastest-growing, most influential sector." While 79.5 million would be a significant number in most countries, it's a mere six percent of China's total population of 1.28 billion. In the U.S., Web surfers make up 57 percent of the total population of 290.34 million. Click here for more |
it's a fact but none of them will be signing up with their cc's I believe.

well if anything, i dont think they'll be traditional like us
they have more cell phones than land phones cost of the sunk cost to putting in the phones. i would offer some sort of payment solution via sms or dialers. Or if they use prepaid cards, work some kind of partnership with a big distributor to make money on cards available to purchases online.:2 cents: |
Does anyone know of a processor that can handle Chinese cards? I know these people have credit cards. Not all of them are farming rice in the Wu-Shu province. The study says over half of these surfers have university degrees. That means credit cards are in hand.

there is the Great Wall credit card which is one of the most popular :)

didnt u see that pic about the different universities. its completely different mate. trust me on that. |
Who has details on pornography in China? Isn't it censored?
|
also that almost no chinese use any ATM cards so why would they use CC ehehe

that isn't too far fetched... |

Are you saying no one has cards over there? Since of this 79.5 million, 10% have broadband and 25% are on leased lines (offices I'm guessing) there has to be a nice number of porn consumers ready to pay for at least some $10 sites. |

Oh god... I don't think they know what's going to hit them if a telco makes chinese dialers possible. |
i cant find the thread, but it was two pics one with the chinese university ppl sitting and the other one with some soroity pic...
they're university students are different from the ones here. I would say that they are alot more mature than the ones here. there might be some credit card holders, but for a payment solution, why not go after what they all have: cell phones. my :2 cents: |
Unfortunately, for the time being, all this means is its now up to 79.5 million redirects. God I hope that changes, it would be nice to have paying customers over there.
|
The problem with going after the cell phones is the maximum transaction amount is only about enough to do a trial.....it is a few dollars max per transaction.....
I just don't see it being a profitable market until things change over there. |
Just my :2 cents:, but I think some of you guys have actually got to get out of the mindset that China is some backward country.
For starters, it's one of the largest in the world, secondly, it's got the largest population, and its growth is astonishing. In 1997, Shanghi [just one city, keep in mind] had 1/3 of the WORLD'S construction cranes in it. For those who have actually left the towns they were born in, you'd know that China / HK are technically advanced. Most if not all middle+ classes have credit cards, and there's internet all over the place. There is serious bling in that country. As far as porn goes, it'd be hard to contest the local markets- which have a spread of everything for next to nothing.. also, chinese / asian tastes in porn are drastically different to western.. nowadays most people here love / want the extreme i got gangbanged style stuff, whereas the softcore is still very, very popular in China. Just my thoughts. |
Fuck China. I hope they invade Taiwan and we have a chance to justify nuking them and sending them back to the stone age.
:BangBang: |
|
79.5 million Web surfers and 2 credit cards ... go get them, tiger !!
|
What's Chinese traffic good for except for crappy add ons to shady traffic deals or used by shady TGP dudes trying to boost their hits.
|
half you fuckers have no fucking idea what you're talking about, do you.
|
It's like illegal to look at porn in china. You can't even host porn in china. They still do shit like public beatings for this type of stuff
|
C'mon Playa. That's taking it a bit far. You will have to show me a link to prove that one.

It's true, a partner of mine couldn't even have their big breast pills site hosted there because it showed tits on the tour You can recieve some serious punishment in china |
Wel yeah I know hosting it is illegal, even with a BP host, but that has little to do with what people will do in their homes on the net. Weed is illegal here but that is only making it more popular. People are horny, I don't see that stopping anyone. Porn affects everyone.
|
ain't to many "adult chinese webmasters" that live in china
|
Quote:
how many people you know bought their weed using a credit card? seriously with the current Visa regs their is no way in hell a proccessor will allow a chinese transaction to go thru |
That's exactly why we can all make a shitload of money, somehow(?), on the new Chinese surfers. Hosting and making porn there is illegal but what's that got to do with us? Obviously people over surf porn because we have all seen chinese IP's in the referrer logs.
Now that the higher income surfers are starting to get online en masse I see an opportunity. Like the rapper Jin says... Y'all gon learn Chinese. |

If you really think about it, the processors we rely on in the porn business accepts less than half of the credit cards worldwide. Of course there has to be a different processor used. |

Don?t forget that a lot of Chinese people out of China. And not all of them are common with English. But most have CC.
So as Chine itself I think SMS billing or something like that are coming popular in this country. I also can say that more and more European people come to China to build up technology or something like that. Philips for example has his biggest part in China now and all other technical monsters are looking forward work there. So Chinas sign ups are coming soon IMHO. |
he has a fuckin point. there has got to be a fuckin way to make money off these people.
i fuckin got it. ive figured it out. wow. its simple. Pornwolf whats your icq? |
Here are some facts:
Chinese Internet is highly censored. The ISP's filter everything out that has anything to do with porn and political comentary. The maximum penalty for viewing porn can be the death penalty. If a chinese citizen looks at porn it will not be paid porn as the evidence is easy to find. The market might open up in a long term but I doubt it is a porn market in the next 5 to 10 years. |
I see interest to China screwed up!!!
Somebody is already looking for processor for China in this forum. :) I wonder estimate conversion of this traffic?. :) |
Well.. they are defenetly getting hornier :
http://www.atimes.com/atimes/China/EL03Ad01.html In the end btw. it says "One of the stories tells of a dispute between a local police station in western Shaanxi province and a couple who were detained for watching pornographic films at home. After a much-publicized lawsuit, the couple won the suit against the police, who were charged with intruding on their privacy at home. " So guess porn in their own homes can't be illegal |

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/2540309.stm "China blocks news not porn online" "There also seemed to be an ambivalent attitude to porn on the net. The researchers found that China blocked just 13.4% of their sample of well-known sexually explicit sites. "Blocking of such sites as Playboy and Penthouse suggests a purposeful decision to restrict sexually explicit material," said the researchers. "Yet the well-known sites of Hustler Magazine and whitehouse.com were consistently accessible." |
Conversions would be something like 1:10,000 but expect 10,000,000 daily hits. Cheap bandwidth is a must to deal with those people. :1orglaugh
If people are being put to death and the ISP's are so censored why is everyone seeing chinese referrers in the logs? I have seen a ton of Chinese pasword sites as well. They are the friggin hotlink kings as well. My ICQ is 152970 ~5 9 5 |

That sounds good, but 10 years is a little bit far ahead to be speculating. The internet, as we now know it, wasn't even around 10 years ago. |
As for the cencorship :

I got chinese typeins and ill keepem for 5 to 10 if thats what it takes unless someone buys them before that. There are allot of those fuckers over there and if they fig out a payment solution ill be there.
|
chinese are the best customers of the online casinos

i don't think anyone in this thread even dealt or deals with the asian niche , or they think they do :2 cents: |
Don't give me that shit that China isn't backwards.
There were cranes over there because they're building *up*, big fucking deal. Same thing happens in the cities here - there's no more land to build *out*. Cultures that still abort girl babies because boys are a "better investment" and can get a job easier are backwards. Period. And let's not even go into the entire "still communist" theme. |
No you can't be put to death for looking at porn in China. Also China is pretty relaxed when it comes to censoring porn sites, they are much more interested in censoring any news site that makes them look bad.
We are working on a new payment solution for China. It doesn't require credit cards and it's not a dialer. In addition to providing billing services, we will also offer translation and localization free of charge once we are ready with it. |

Getting a hooker in China is much cheaper than paying for a porn site. Why would they buy?
