Holy shit: Kodak is no longer producing film cameras!

You know they have to hate digital. Think of all that lost revenue from people buying film and developing it. I doubt that income will be made up by people buying digital memory, photo printers, and Kodak paper.

Looks like it might be time to open up a store that sells film :Graucho

Thats one of those product categories where there's no margins on the hardware.

Its just like PC printers you can buy for $79. They make their money and profits when you go back in and buy 4 ink cartridges for $80.

Or like razor blades at $8 a crack.

Film is going a slow death. When you see Pro photographers carrying around all digital equipment its only a matter of time now.

none at all? I don't believe it what about the little throwaway ones they are the onl yones i trust myself with because I lose everything

Kodak's film cameras sucked fucking ass anyways. They were so far outstripped by Nikon and to a lesser extent Canon and Fuji it's not even funny :P They made a smart move.

I don't know about that.. there are a lot of diehards that still love film.. myself being one of those. And film is a medium that, no matter HOW great digital gets, cannot be duplicated by digital. Aside from the fact that having negatives/slides is HANDY AS HELL when dealing with copyright issues. Eliminates all doubt, and it's damn good to have.

The kodak research team actually developed much of the digital technology very early on but the dinosaurs in the upper executive management were too old and blind to realize the potential and so it was not marketed properly, resulting in a substanial loss of the market share. A mistake that has cost them dearly.
