In this situation, who should have been found guilty of disturbing the peace?
Choice Votes Percentage of 15856 Votes
The man 118 1%
The teens 11704 74%
Both the teens and the man 3629 23%
None of them 405 3%

The $50 would have been better spent on paying a larger more aggressive teen to heave a rock through the car window. (I am kidding of course).

What a bunch of BS

That is really fucked up! I think the judge was on crack!

Justice was not served here.

Yelling, using an expletive. That's clear cut assault.

It's hard to prove the teens did anything without a cop there to measure the sound level. If he'd just called them they could have easily slapped them with a sound violation.

Semi-related I hate when neighbors come out and yell. My girlfriend lives on a dead end coming off of a one way street. I park in front of her house so I have to turn around in a driveway. I always turned around in her neighbors driveway and one night he came and bitched me out for it. So what makes him special that cars have to turn around in everyone's driveway but his?

When did telling someone to fuck off become an assault?

Assault is a verbal attack, battery is physical. Usually you only get brought in for assault if you also commit battery.

basschick 01-15-2004 10:38 AM

i've read a lot of threads on gfy, including threads from parents here. most are pretty aggressive about protecting their kids.

so tell me - if these teens were your kids, how thrilled would you be if some guy yelled and swore at them?

I have a looney toons neighbor next door who yells at the teenagers across the street from me for turning around in his driveway. He also followed one of my neighbors up the street home and verbally cursed her out for going too slow in our residential neighborhood.
So there are freaks amoungst us but, I am the lucky one who has to live next door to him :Graucho

Good question..... I probably would not be too thrilled but, if my kids were in the wrong then its my job to correct them so they don't do it again.
