If you don't need it to be totally portable then the Alienware models are probably the most powerful you can get.

If you need good battery life then look elsewhere.

Hey. We are also looking for a laptop that will be a do all machine... We were thinking in the lines of the HP AMD with the 17 inch monitor...
Still thinking about it...

Thought about a Dell also, but getting them fixed is a pain in the ass unless you pay the 3 or 4 hundred for the in home service..

Yup, if I actually had any use for a good laptop this is the one I would get:

But I've got an old 550 Mhz laptop sitting in the closet that I never use now as it is.

LMAO...I get home and hardly utilize either one of them other than for monitoring message boards and checking scores. Nice machine BTW:thumbsup

dont get a dell FOR SURE!

Sony Vaio is the way to go - using them for over 3 years so far...kinda expensive but well worth it...

PowerBook is the only way to go, and if you buy one now you can get the new version of Final Cut Express for $99. http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL....1.1.1.0.0.1.0
