Fucking unbelievable. Got guys in my home cleaning the AC vents and doing duct maintainence and I just found one of the weasles in my storage closet and instead of working on the vent he was looking through my nude model photo slides.

He got all flustered when I came up behind him and he realized that I'd caught him red handed going through one of my boxes. Said he did photography as a hobby and was just taking a quick peek.

It was way high up on a shelf in the closet near where he was working on the vents and he must have seen the box label and decided to check out what was inside.

I certainly hope you escorted him out the front door and informed his crew supervisor of what he had done, and that he was not to enter your house again.

You might also consider demanding a cut on the price for the invasion of privacy and being caught not doing his job.

I was going to but the crew chief seemed like a prick the way he was ordering his guys around. And the worker I nailed was in his 60's and he apologized right away and started to talk about photography so I let it go figuring he'd be fired on the spot if I told his boss. If he had been a younger guy that could easily get another job would have handled it differently.

Bullshit on keeping an eye on him - he is being contracted to do a job which he's been caught not doing. Not only that, but he went into a closed box of personal items and was browsing through them.

I suggested escorting him outside, but in all truthfulness his ass should be put off of the property completely and the company should be threatened with never getting KRL's business again.
It's his crewman's job to keep an eye on him, not the customer's.

Yep, I'm a softie on that. As tough as I am in certain areas, I've never liked having to fire people. Always delegated that to someone else. I just can't handle thinking I'm putting someone in a tough financial spot not having a job if they have kids at home, even if they deserve to be fired.

I've done it of course, but always tried to give them ample time to get another job before cutting them off and never felt good afterwards when you see the look of sadness in their eyes. Something about that process just gets to me.

Actually if you think about it a bit KRL, it would probably be relatively easy for him to get another job. If he's cleaning ducts and helping do A/C work then most likely he's HVAC certified. Those guys are always in pretty high demand. Down here right now the HVAC contractors are on the radio begging people to come apply for a job, even unskilled folks - they'll train you and put you through the certification process.

I know what you mean though about firing or being part of a firing process. Gotta take your heart out of it and think to yourself that if *they* were half as concerned about supporting their family as you are, then they'd be doing their job rather than goofing off.
Besides, in this situation you're the customer, not the boss. Think of the risks of this guy going home and calling up child protective services saying it you've got nekkid pics in your closet of "very young" girls, and you've got kids in the house. Damn I don't even want to think of the ramifications of that. Even though your pics are legal and out of the reach of your kids, this could cause you major problems.

Just in case - if CPS *does* show up at your house, under no circumstances do you let them in unless they've got a warrant AND your lawyer is on-site. Once you let them in they are free to do whatever they want (like a vampire crossing the threshhold) - including grabbing your kids and taking them away without having to tell you where they're taking them.

Give the poor guy access to a few paysites. We all like porn.

If you reported it to his supervisor and he got fired, it wouldn't have been your actions that caused him problems, it would have been his.

I have worked on peoples houses in construction / home remolding.

Never once did I pry into peoples personal things. I saw a ton of crazy shit and just did my job and left things as they laid in most cases or put them back if I had to move them.

You work on my house and arent there to do what you are hired for, you are asked to leave and you arent paid. I dont care if you are young, old whatever.

You are my employee for that time and you will do your job or someone else will.
