Parents these days.
 

Went outside a few mins ago to check my mail and saw a friend Melissa who works at my apartments front office. She asked me if I knew the people that live above me and I told them besides the fact I use to go the same college as their oldest son and their 2 little kids I don't really know them.

She told me that they found they have been leaving their 4 year old girl home alone for hours at a time. Makes me mad since she is prolly one of the sweetest little girls I've ever seen. Everytime before I leave my apartment somewhere she always tells me "What's up dude?" since she plays on the patio above mine.

Pretty sad parents would do that. I'm sure the apartments will call child protective services. But what you do in a situation like this?

thats a tough call since child proctective services are just as bad as "bad parents"... they do as little as possible to protect children anymore..sucks

go upstairs when the parents are there and give em a good kick; but if you are really concerned you could offer to babysit, if you have time

if that's true it's really sad. Children are always the one's that lose in situations like that.

i agree, the child is helpless and the parents are making the decisions, and sometimes decision need to be made for them, i agree child services are not always a big winner, but at least the child will be watched

One of my ex-roommates and his girlfriend did that with their little girl. Pissed me off to no end. She would be put to bed and they would leave for the clubs. An hour later she would come out of the bedroom screaming and wanting her mommy.

I couldn't take it anymore. That was just a portion of the crap this guy put me through. I kicked him out eventually. Guess I should have done more to help the little girl...

Amazing people like that r allowed to have kids!
