Problem with insurance company

I got some points on my license and my insurance went up a bunch of money because my driving record was clean before. they notified me in the middle of december that it went up and i cancelled the policy at the end of the pre-paid period. now that its over they are sayinng i owe them $200 for the previous month when they changed the price after i already paid the whole month in advance. can they mess up my credit if i dont pay? or is there a way to get it cleared?

Pay the shit right away. If the insurance companies are anything like the ones up here you will also have to pay more for insurance based on you stiffing the other insurance company

Up here in canada if so much as bounce a cheque against them that is cause to increase your rates.

They can get collection agency to go after u and that will fuck up ur credit record
best thing to do is to call them and maybe theaten them with a law suite if they won't stop this extortion

They'll probably laugh at you. Read your contract with them as im sure there is something in there which allows for the rates to be increased if you're convicted on the traffic charge.

Stiff them and watch what happens when you got to get a new policy :)

i had nothing wrong with the rates being increased, i cancelled my policy. they notifed me towards the end of the month i already paid for that they were increasing it and wanted me the pay the difference for that month that had already gone by.

Did you lose your points during the month which they're trying to nail you for the extra cash?
