Morning After Pill

More and more, the news is talkin about this "Morning After Pill" . Women can take it within 72 hours of un-protected sex. It's gonna be sold over the counter at pharmacy's soon.

I think its a bad idea! To know that when I raise my own kids, they're gonna be able to go get this shit so easily and not even think twice!!!

Now, i think it should stay the way it is now; by prescription only!! And even at free clinics! Some of the reasons why they are selling it over the counter is because young women dont have money to go to doctors and then pay for the pill. So, make it available at free clinics! This story just pisses me off the more I hear it!!!

(Serious risks include heart attacks and strokes)

Anyone else feel the same??

Like the ones that need to take it will know that

Rictor 01-11-2004 11:14 PM

I don't have a problem with it. Seems better than having children.

Aspirin probably has as many side effects as the morning after pill, maybe it should be banned too?

uhh....Asprin doesnt have a Heart Attack or Stroke for a side effect.....your first link proves it! Actually, isnt there that one asprin that you take while you're HAVING a stroke??? (TV commercial)

What's the big deal? Here in New Zealand you can just go to a family planning place and get them for free. It's somewhat harmful (ie every girl I know who's taken one says it screws their cycle up) but much psychologically easier than having a physical abortion. And it's not just dumb ass sluts that have to use it, rubbers do break.

Huggles 01-11-2004 11:21 PM

I'd hit it out of the straight shooter

Spunky 01-11-2004 11:23 PM

Just keep to rump fucks...no problems :glugglug

Im not against the pill itself, I actually think its a great thing to have available.....just not OVER THE COUNTER!!!!! Make it free....make it available but not at the same place where I can get my grocerys!!!! :warning

it should not be recommended because it has risk involved for long time use, heart is at risk that will lead to stroke. The manufacturers should have more clinical trials on this morning pills before they market it!

Just because they are not the same, doesn't mean they aren't as bad. According to the second link I posted, Aspirin may cause cancer, as well as blood pressure problems, internal bleeding and other things.

If you want to ban everything with serious side effects, why not start with Aspirin?

Cigarettes are also very bad. Should they be banned?

Birth control... Orthotricycline has the same effects as listed above.. same with most other perscription birth control products...

Just cuz it is over the counter does not mean shit.. I would rather have my daughter (if I had one) be able to goto the store and buy something to help resolve the issue, without the hassle of having to see a doctor, and possibly have to tell me about the whole thing.. She could be terrified to tell me, instead it lets her take the pill, and deal with it, and learn a good lesson from not having protected safe sex...

makefuckingmoney 01-11-2004 11:35 PM

Someone also said taking 4 birth control pills in the am and 4 12 hours later would be doing the same thing..

im not a doctor..just a slut

basschick 01-12-2004 12:13 AM

Babagirls, would you rather your daughter had a child instead or an abortion - possibly unsafely as they get closer to being illegal?

the pill and norplant also have serious side effects.

fuzebox 01-12-2004 12:21 AM

My gf had to take it once a couple of years ago... She went to her campus clinic and was given them by the nurse there for free right away.

... But I'm not sure what the laws involving the morning after are in Canada.

I almost died of a bleeding ulcer due to aspirin. It's not as safe as you think it is. :winkwink:

And the "morning after pill", so to speak, has been available for decades, it's just that unless you needed it, you weren't aware of it. For years if a condom broke or you were having unprotected sex when you weren't supposed to (I'm old and hit my teens before AIDS...), you called your OB-GYN up and he prescribed one month of BC pills but you took several at the same time for a couple of days.

There are many things available OTC which are much more harmful than the morning after pill. If the risks are spelled out, then personally, I don't enjoy the government telling me what I can and cannot put into my body.

Mr Exotic 01-12-2004 07:45 AM

This will just lead to unprotected sex and the spread of disease, definitely a bad idea.

bopha 01-12-2004 08:51 AM

Women have known for years that you can just dose up on your birth control pills for the same effect. Makes you sick as a dog but it works. I remember reading that in cosmo years ago.

People who are irresponsible will always be irresponsible. There are girls out there who use the abortion clinic for birth control.

You can't fix stupid.
