Do you have to call and request the upgrade? Or will they just upgrade you regardless?

When it comes to your city / area you don't have to do anything, most you will need to do is power cycle your modem.

but on some modems it just gets the new config file and your new speed is there.

I've got cox 3mbit, it kicks ass

most people notice the line upgrades at night when your connection is slow as dial up, they suck much worse than my old SBC dsl minus speed. The customer support is attrocious

We have Surewest here in sac. Fiber Optic 9mbps up and down. Fast as hell for $45 a month, limited neighborhoods atm though
