Anyone Have / Know Startup Bands / Singers Looking For A Record Deal?
Put their demo tape(s) online and e-mail the links to me. I have some huge connects in the music biz to the people that make deals and new groups happen.

Yo KRL...
Check out Afroskull. They played IA2000, and Joe the guy who does pretty much everything used to work for HiRise. They play some kick ass funk that's gotten people like George Clinton and Les Claypool to take notice. I think there are some tunes on the site to check out. They play pretty consistantly in NYC at the moment. Let me know what you think and I can get all the relevant info sent out to you. http://www.afroskull.com |

My friends band has been getting a lot of attention lately and they are pretty well close to being signed. I belive they would be classified as Emo though. |

Music biz is really, really tough. Unless you side step the wanna bee's line and get your demo's in someone's hands directly the odds of getting noticed let alone a recording contract are virtually nil. |

Heres a couple local bands that I know, some through friends, etc, either way they rock and I have seen them play.
http://www.noway-jose.com mexicali texas punk rock pop crap. Jose rocks, ive smoked so much herb with these fools. http://www.frankensteintheband.com Frankenstein absolutely kicks ass. They just played a show yesterday, I didn't make it. Theyve been around for awhile now, and share a band memberwith another of my friends bands, which I wont mention. Caught these guys as long as 3 years ago at "Release The Bats" hahah a goth club. I could name many more but doubt they would spark much interest from mainstream folks. Or that you could even listen to it long enough to even want to push it. Love live punk rock. :glugglug |

First off, 11 years olds cant even get into bars or clubs, so theres no way they can play to an audience that has money. Kids make music for other kids, and kids have to get mom and dad to buy their music. While kids bands are fun and we know all musicians start out young, the reality behind it is: It takes years of playing shows, and developing a fan base, and children cant do this. If youre talking about having a kid grow up to be a huge pop star, well maybe, but the reality is it will never happen. I have been around musicians and bands since I was younger than your boys bands drummer, and it takes a lot more than just "talent" to make it in the music industry. I sit in on recording studio sessions and go to live shows every week, there really isnt a real market for kids in the music industry unless its the Britney pop star thing, and hey kids can dream, but there is a reality behind the music industry that talent, style, looks, dont even really matter. Ive listened to and known too many good bands that go nowhere, to think 11 year opld kids have a chance more than people I see every night LIVING the ROCK BAND life, there is huge difference between the reality of the music scene here in Hollywood vs kids playing in their garage. There is way too much that goes into making a band successful to even begin to discuss here, Ive seen soooo many bands come and go its pathetic. I know guys that have been touring the US for 10+ years, and bands I knew in highschool have 10 records under their belt and these guys are still broke, they may have the best tattoos and kick ass music gear, but the reality of the music industry is much too harsh for most to deal with. from sleeping in cars to AA, Its a long road tyo the top, if you want to rock and roll. :thumbsup |
Mastamindz, what's she look like and how old is she? She sounds nice.
|
can you assure that a band i recommend won't be bastardized by record company homogenization?

KRL,
I'll hit you up tomorrow with an email link to my creative director's band... they are pretty groovy funky.... nice stuff... hot female lead singer too. You are a certainly busy guy...! :glugglug |
KRL,
I am on this party bus in Vegas and one of my best friends (whom I will leave naneless for the moment) puts in this demo without anyone knowing he put it in.... so this band comes on and they just jam......I leaned over and i said very seriously ....and trust me when I say i know my music.....This si the best Pearl Jam i have ever heard...it is about time they freshened it up It was not PJ it was his brother in laws unsigned band I know that genre is not hot....but it has longevity a great rock band can last a decade or more I will send you a copy |
My 15 year old sister has been performing in live local concerts and sports events and has been getting a lot of attention lately. Her strong point is vocals, and also plays guitar well.
Her voice will knock your socks off, she is truly amazing. I'll see if I can get a recording for you. |
|
mp3.com is shut down, better tell your friends to put their audio on their own site.
not sure how many of these sites where unsigned bands can be heard. Here's one I found and listened to about 500 bands/artists on - what I found is there is a very good reason they are unsigned - NO TALENT! if you can't write a song yourself or find someone to write for you it doesn't matter how good a musician you are - the music business still revolves around the song - whatever genre you're in. http://www.vitaminic.com |
