Can't the admin post here the date when GFY stop showing the disgusting farting banner? I like GFY but want to leave until that banner with farting sound is gone!

I had to add

bb_flashbanner01_624x80.swf

to the hardware firewall for my little network. If GFY can't/won't be selective about what ads are dumped on us, I will do it myself.

In fact, I have blocked all of these ads

I know we have to have some ads here and that's cool. The ads shouldn't make noise AT ALL. If we all started to block ads with sounds, maybe we could prevent new obnoxious flash ads from being made. No impressions + no clicks = no money/no point.

It really is pathetic. I have to always be careful to visit gfy with the sound turned off; the other day I forgot and my bookeeper heard the farting; real funny guys.

I keep on saying it, get opera and disable flash and sigs. Gfy will be 50% faster, i shit you not.

Theyve got twice the exposure of any other program here.

What exposure. Everybody either refreshes or tries to find a way to keep that ad from coming up. I have only seen the company that the ad is promoting mentioned once. If it wasn't for that mention of the company, I wouldn't even know what the banner was advertising.

Everybody is talking about a farting banner. Nobody even mentions the company. I don't even think most of the people visiting knows what the banner is advertising.

Thinking farting is funny is why everybody mentions the 15yr old kid part. Anybody in or out of high school is past that fart humor stuff and thinks it's just childish. Most people here (at least I think most people) run a business and not a daycare for kids where farts are more than likely funny.

Yea, but all those threads are just about a farting banner. Like I said, no one mentions the company, just the farting banner. It's not like the dialer company where everybody mentioned the company in every thread that was started about it.

The only exposure I can see is that people are curious on what this farting banner is and try to check it out. But not everybody knows what company this banner is advertising. Everybody will forget the name in a week. Not sure why you say 5 years.

Bad exposure doesn't always mean good exposure. I'm pretty sure Matrix and that Perfection company would disagree on that one.

Well i see where youre coming from but i still kinda disagree. Look at my sig for instance. They pay me well but it wont justify the few people i sent through my sig. It only becomes interesting when 20 other people have the same sig. 1 banner does nothing, 10 threads about 1 banner does the trick. 1 sig means shit, 20 people with the same sig does the trick. Why you think coca cola advertises so much? You think people will run to the store 2 mins after seeing a commercial? No, they are reminded of the name and sooner or later will buy it because they are in the store, see 6 different brands of coke and pick out coca cola because the name immediatly pops up.

I would agree if the company name was mentioned in every thread. But since I only saw it once, it's not getting their company name mentioned again and again like Coke does. I'll remember Coke, cause like you say, they keep popping a ad at me on the tv or the street or where ever that says "Coke". The only thing I'm going to remember from this fart banner thing is "fart banner", not the company.

What you mentioned is what that dialer company did, which was brilliant advertising in my opinion.

I've been in business since 1996 also. I don't know if my business is as successful as they are, cause I don't know how much they make.

Just because their other advertising does good, doesn't mean they don't make advertising flops. Your only the second post where their name was mentioned in all these posts and fart banner threads. If their name gets mentioned more in these fart banner threads, I might actually think they made a smart move in the advertising.
