Dual monitors... do they HAVE to be the same size?

I currently have a 17in LCD samsung monitor but it doesnt provide enough space for me. I wanna get a 17 or 19in samsung beside it and have them as a dual display.

Will it look stupid if I have a 17 and a 19. Should I just do 2 17s?

2 19s will be a bit too much $ + i would have no use for the 17 that I have now...

Depends on your graphics card, or if you're going to use two cards. But you can have different resolutions and refresh rates for each monitor in both cases.

You can match any two monitors together ... hell, I even had a fixed frequency old HP dinasour with a brand new Viewsonic CRT ... worked fine!

While any two types or sizes will be compatable, I found that two different sized monitors put alot of strain on my eyes. I did not really notice it, until I bought another 19", but it was like a tremendous pressure in my head was released. If you opt for 2 same sized monitors, make sure you put the viewable areas at the same heights, (even if it means shimming one of the bases with pieces of 1x4) :)

Another consideration is if you are going to combine a perfectly flat CRT with an older concave screen, that is going to really put strain on your eyes after a while - 17" PFs are under $100 now ... go grab yourself one (or two)

I spend at least 10 hours (sometimes 19 or 20) online a day

If you spend only a couple hours, it may not affect you the same.

TWO thing I HAVE TO have:

a) a very good quality highback office chair (those of you still using a chair from your fold-up card table set will have no idea what I mean, until you finally wise up and grab a good quality executive chair at Staples? !!)

b) my 2 - 19" perfectly flat CRTs, calibrated, and temperature turned down to under 6000 Kelvin (yes it really helps if you spend more than 6 hours a day in front of a PC).

Where do you go to change the temperature in the settings? Never heard of this before.
