Why do you think Acacia released the list of sign ups?

Got to admit it has me beat. Why did they ever do it?

The shit it stirred up has not done them any good, webmasters now know who to avoid, some are even saying they now know where their info came from. Everyone else in the industry can now look at the list and decide for themselves whether to support Acacia by doing business with these guys or to move away from the licensees.

This could even send a few of the licensees bankrupt, which is a nice reminder to anyone else thinking signing up is the easy way out. They also now know their information is not confidential, how many others must be worried their info might come out?

I personally think Acacia are a very badly led company, going after education proved that, but this is just plain confusing.

Why did they do it?

Paul Markham 01-10-2004 06:05 AM

No one got an opinion?

chemicaleyes 01-10-2004 06:16 AM

Acacia is trying to say well we've got these signed-up, Now everyone else come and sign-up. Just trying to get some more $$$ before they F-Off.

I think they are trying to show they are winning the battle and releasing the list would perhaps encourage others to give up the fight.
Only one big problem in my opinion: they are business people without a clear cut understanding of exactly how the adult industry works, how webmasters work etc. Perhaps they don't understand that a webmaster can move their traffic to other sponsors in minutes and would do so without hesitation if they got pissed. There is not a 3 month lag that would affect profits, it can be almost instant.

I think you might have it, but still can't see why they would post this list. As Kman says some are not actually blowing away the adult net, some signed becasue they simply could not afford to fight.

Epic Cash I have it on good authority wanted to fight but the costs would have broken them. Hustler could have but took the easy route. How many people signed up to them in Vegas if they have a stand?

IMHO Hustler didn't take the easy route they took the greedy route. They were hoping that Acacia's threats would work and the webmasters would dump those companies fighting Acacia and run off to the likes of Hustler.

Ross 01-10-2004 07:56 AM

I personally think they done it to try to get more people to sign up. If some people seen big companies signed up then they are more likely to do so themselves.

Kevin2 01-10-2004 08:03 AM

Ross what your saying is true but the fact that Acacia are saying that webmasters were safe if they promoted one of their customers leads me to believe they used this as a sales pitch to the likes of Hustler.

Sexzity 01-11-2004 12:31 PM

I thing many of the big sponsors got a offer from Acacia. Maby the big ones no even need to pay acacia, becouse acacia would use there names to show others why to sign.

I would like to see a scan of one of thoise signet licensees

Sorry for the poor spelling:helpme

rebel23 01-11-2004 12:41 PM

they're doing it for two reasons 1) ramp up their share price and impress dozy investors and institutions and 2) to intimidate those who haven't signed by including the 'list' in their literature.

it's not rocket science, just that they think they have good news to shout about

venus 01-11-2004 12:59 PM

what do you use to determin that someone is a "wannabe player" ?
without knowing anything about them your statement seems kind of, uneducated.
