Question for fellow webmasters about sponsor hosted galleries...

If a sponsor had a link or two on his hosted galleries that did not give you credit if a surfer clicked would you tell him to fix it?

What if after a couple times of telling him he still did nothing about it? Would you continue to promote the galleries? Post a message to tell others about it?

Reason I ask is I found a couple of sponsors doing this. It seems they dont think webmasters will find out. I kinda feel a little cheated. I wanted to know others opinions...

Thanks for the comments.

:thumbsup

They are all thieves. Promote your own shit so you don't have to worry about crap like this.

If he hasnt just change it may be a time issue etc but your time is money too.

Speaking of such i was gonna start my own thread but i dont think it will take anything away from author of thread so here it goes.

As people will know i run the CJW Championship Jelly Wrestling jellywrestling.com and run a referal program. We have advertised in the past free hosting etc and the likes to help me promote my site.. At this stage i dont promote to tgps so i have a very good opportunity available to someone to be a regular poster with RS or whatever. We pay 50% recurring and our content is original We can offer a lot and would let you build galleries advertise your own stuff on our servers. Whatever to keep you posting regular only really after one regular poster dont need em posted too many times same site or getting banned from hun cause 10 people are submitting galleries. So only after 1 really regulaer submitter didnt want to make sound a spam thread so using this one please dont flame for spam as not after everyone just one regulaer poster.

You should call them out on it. The reason is that FHGs are marketed by sponsors as new ways for TGP owners to make money. Doing the tricks you described goes against their stated purpose.

You should be getting 100% credit for every click. Otherwise, you might want to try another sponsor. This is something that you have to decide if you are comfortable with. We do not do this to our webmasters and i know that i would not like it if it was being done to me, from an affiliates perspective. Whether you want to push this sponsor or not considering these circumstances is completely up to you. This is not something the board will be able to decide for you. :)

100% agree. Why would you want to work for nothing?

Not one link shoul leak - Simple as that
If the sponsor hasn't fixed the link after your request, then it doesn't sound too much like an accidental leak -
Accidents and mistakes happen - But if pointed out, should be fixed right away -

Also, with fhg, they generate thousands of 404 pages daily.

How many sponsors actually trip those over to a page which also includes your referral codes?

IntenseCash 01-10-2004 10:33 AM

People who want the name of this sponsor doing this on a couple of his galleries ICQ me. I dont want a bad rep for posting his name on here since he does post on GFY frequently.

I have asked him twice to fix it, I am sure if he gets enough complaints he will be forced to fix them.

I thought it was just an honest mistake but since he still has failed to fix the two galleries, maybe he is doing it intentionally.

Thanks,
Chuck

Out them and then stop using them...find honest reliable sponsors....

:-) Better yet, find a sponsor not saturated on tgps and overpromoted with hosted galleries- like a single model

hehe

I remember your CJW paysite and hosted galleries had more traffic leak than any other paysites I've ever seen. To bad because you had an original site.

If I were you I would take their links down and send them an email that if they want your traffic to resume they need to fix the problem.

Their response (or lack of) would help make your decision whether to alert others via the boards.

Yes i remember taking your advice and deleting other banners it was first attempt with affiliate program the original we had made for ourselves we were trying to offer same thing before and we were gonna build them. There wont be traffic leaks if your maintaining your own anyway. We dont plan to rip anyone off we didnt even have affillliates when we took your advice we we only just set up.
