The "join" messages are pretty obscured, I doubt it that one in particular does very well. But I'd like to know the same thing about designs like it.

honestly i wonder how a LOT of sites get sign ups (a lot of the ARS look like crap to me for example), but apparently they do.

I try to stay away from FLASH; but in your case I can go with this.
It looks better than the "cookie cutter" tours by a million miles.

The only suggestion I have is: try to be more personal.
You say "come with me" but who is "me". Introduce "me" and let the surfer feel like he is reading something that is written by the model on the page and that they can connect with. Or say "hi I'm John the webmaster". Make the surfer feel like there is someone there that's interesting.
I think this is the way of the future.

Unfortunately that is not my site, just a site I had found and found interesting design - wise.

I like it, something different. I like that there is actually some real sales copy, although I don't think it was written by someone whose first language is English.
