I need some advice, my first customer is unhappy.
Last night I started promoting my first paysite (my own) and I got a sale, which made me happy, but today the guy cancelled and he put his excuse as "not satisfied with the content", which I dont understand because I waited this long to start my first site so I could LOAD the site up with content and make members happy.
So I want to know, you think I should email him and ask for his opinion, and maybe offer him a couple of bucks via paypal for his time, or should I just not email him and forget about it? |
give him a free access and ask what he would like on the site ;)

Its a numbers game. You cant judge the success of a paysite by one member. Get some real stats and some consistency then make the call.

he might have just picked a random reason

Don't worry too much about it. One guy's opinion doesn't matter much. If it makes you feel better, email the guy and ask him what he didn't like about the site.
A better gauge of a sites quality is how it converts and how long it retains. What people say isn't always an accurate representation of the facts since satisfied people are less likely to write in than those who have complaints. |
Maybe he just doesnt want to be rebilled cos there is still not enough content
|
I tend to believe he left because he wasn't satisfied. We have a very low chargeback rate on credit cards, perhaps 1 in 500. One reason we believe is that we give a very good presentation of what's in the member's section. So when they join, it's basically what they've already seen.
Does your preview section indicate what's available in the member's section? Should at least be the same if not some additional bonus items. |
Give him free access as recommended wait till you have a few more members you will find that most should be happy judge from a recurring member all members that quit after first months think same thing or got to see it all.
|
Check your logs and see what exactly he did with his membership.
Chances are, unless you have it blocked, he just unleashed a bot that downloaded your entire members section and then canceled/requested a refund. Happened to us when we had a pay site, and then we set it up where bots were blocked. My guess is the guy did that to you. I could be wrong, but figured I'd pass it on as a possibility. :) |

hes probably just a scammer

That's a common reason for brand new sites- it's not their fault that your site is brand new, and not stuffed with years of updates.
It takes time, you'll figure it out :-) |
That not everyone will like it works when its been up for a while . If you just launched and one of your frist members complained time to look at the content see what you can do better .Is it content you shoot your self or wornout bought stuff that was on sale or bought stuff thats all over the place.

he's a cheapo...doesn't wan't to pay. forget about it
