Bush to Announce Missions to Mars, Moon

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...d=544&ncid=716

President Bush will announce plans next week to send Americans to Mars and establish a permanent human presence on the moon, senior administration officials said Thursday night.

Bush won't propose sending Americans to Mars anytime soon; rather, he envisions preparing for the mission more than a decade from now, one official said.

In addition to proposing the first trip to the moon since December 1972, the president wants to build a permanent space station there.

Interesting.

The Truth Hurts 01-09-2004 01:14 AM

Maybe it's a project to carve his face on the moom like Cobra Commander did on GIJOE. It wouldn't surprise me if that was his plan.

Cash 01-09-2004 01:53 AM

The first people on Mars and on the Moon should definitely have Internet access to watch free porn. :winkwink:

Since the moon is untouched, are there any minerals worth mining there? Any gold?

Carlito 01-09-2004 02:15 AM

We will liberate the people of the Moon & Mars.
Administration officials say there are no plans to keep troops there beyond 6 months.

maybe he wants to play golf on mars when he retires

Dirty F 01-09-2004 06:29 AM

I wonder how long it will take before he "claims" the moon. It will be USA II in a few years.

funkmaster 01-09-2004 06:33 AM

... americans will not and have never gone to the moon, there is no one to fight with.

crockett 01-09-2004 06:35 AM

I call BULLSHIT (in capps) that fucking lier came around here and made all these great promises on all the good things he was going to do for the local space industry, on his campain before he was elected...

he hasn't done shit.. on top of that even if he really planned to do this, where the hell is he going to get the money being he has sky rocketed our national debit to an all time high from a all time low in less than 3 years.

Bush is a bad joke that keeps getting told over and over to the American people.

Once all the Oil (From IRAQ) is gone they can use the resources of the moon for cheap fuel.

"The moon is expected to be a treasure house of resources, but a more promising aspect is the moon as an energy source. Large quantities of helium 3 are lying on the lunar surface; helium 3 can be used as a fuel for nuclear fusion reactors, one method of clean, high-efficiency power generation. Ten thousand tons of this substance could generate sufficient electrical energy to sustain the entire world population in the 21st century.
Helium 3 is rare in nature on Earth. However, the moon is estimated to hold one million tons of the substance on its surface over which the solar wind has blown for several billions of years.
The Earth is seriously handicapped by shortages of resources and energy. By supplying these, the moon may determine the future course of the human race."
