Anyone track their car? I'm considering it for this summer!
Give me the pros/cons!
Can you buy additional ins. coverage for the track? What are you good/bad experiences on the track? What mods should you do to the car before you track it? Lets hear it! PS: the car isnt anything special, 98 328i with a few Dinan mods. 4 dr, fully loaded. |
I'm not sure how the insurance works, all I know is we have no options for insurance while racing up here :(
You don't need anything to race your car, but if you're going to do any amount of track racing, invest in a new set of tires. You'll enjoy the added grip a set of R-compounds will give you, and you won't destroy your nice street tires after 1-2 track days. Other advice? If it's your first time, sign up for a performance driving school. BMW's driving schools get excellent reviews.... Driver training is a hella lot of fun, and well worth it. :2 cents: |
You gotta do it man, you'll have a great day man.
My insurance covers me for the track also, it's a little more expensive, but that's cool. The only thing i do before i go on track day is tape up all the lights with strips of duct tape. Stiffen the shocks up and go to the local fuel station that have 110% octain fuel. Oil change so i have fresh oil. Make sure my boost is at 1.2bar for the day depending on the the out side temp and make sure i have a full tank of water for the water injection! Make sure your break pads are up to scratch man, you'll be coming in with red or even white hot disks.... :thumbsup |
