Babaganoosh 01-08-2004 01:48 PM

Christopher Reeve didn't pay his taxes and look what they did to him. Don't fuck around with those guys.

sweandy 01-08-2004 03:15 PM

Why would you be scared of the IRS?

Run your business like business.

I bet the number of people that just cash the checks they recieve not thinking about setting aside 30% for taxes is a frightning number. I know a girl has a small site didnt realize she had to pay tax on the checks her third party processor sent her, I was like you have to get a accountant and you have to pay taxes. She told me I worry too much lol.

they don't generally put people in jail for not paying taxes. they just force you to pay up. sending you to jail won't get them any cash which is all they want.

famous people who are in jail for tax evasion are generally people they couldn't nail for anything else.

And your accountant would know that the IRS was at the convention how?

sweandy 01-08-2004 03:36 PM

Yes it hurts alot to pay old taxes with 200%+ extra from years ago. Trust me do it for every months income. Trust me then can trace money pretty good and they surf the web. No fools.
You ain't too big when you get contacted for an tax audit. :glugglug

i'm worried i'm going to get audited this year. i pay my taxes but it's not fun to be audited, i've worked for a company that was audited, no fun at all. i'm totally disorganized, if i am audited i got days of work to deal with it, same with taxes every year but if i'm audited lots more to do i think.

I hope this is not true. Cuz if it is, it would suck.... BIG TIME. I just had my ass handed to me by the IRS last year and I wouldn't want to wish that on any one. They have me on this "Estimated Tax" Payment system to prevent last year's very unpleasant surprise :(

Shok 01-08-2004 06:32 PM

this is why I always sign in at hotels under Brad Shaw.

Seriously, I think your accountant is fucking with you. There are privacy issues here and I think the IRS would need some type of warrant to demand names of people staying at the hotel and what they were there for.

Doesnt matter anyway if you pay your shit

Privacy issues and the government? That's a laugh. They can call it a matter of national security and pull those records under the guise of the patriot act. No warrants, no subpoenas, no nothing. You wouldn't have a clue and they don't have to tell you shit until they indict you.

But you're right: If you pay what you're supposed to and keep good records then you have nothing to worry about.

That is the toughest lesson to learn in this business. People just don't realize that 30% off the top is not your money, its the government's.

I'm really not shocked. I know Clickcash got audited and I suspect some others will be because of underreporting their earnings.

The IRS are in the business of protecting the tax base of the USA. How can it be any surprise that they would keep tabs on sections of industry to ensure tax compliance ?

Don't flatter yourself that you get any special treatment as the adult industry - the IRS keep tabs on many different sectors where they see compliance as an issue.

Any tax department of any country would do the same. It's pure commonsense

Ben-MensNiche 01-08-2004 07:20 PM

Tax avoidance system:

Claim EVERYTHING you can get away with as a business expense therefore it's tax deductible - like business lunches, business dinners, car, gas, insurance, claim 1 of your pets as a guard animal (meaning that all of their food and vet bills are a business expense), get a company yacht and a company jet for entertaining clients, claim all your gas and jet fuel, work from home and use your home to entertain clients, meaning that you can claim your mortgage as a business expense, your telephone bill and cellphone bill is a business expense, as is your internet connection and all your computer equipment, pay yourself just under the minimum required earnings to pay taxes and float the rest in an offshore bank account as profit - and only spend it when you go on vacation outside the country where you entertain a couple of clients of course so that you can claim your vacation and hotel bill as a business expense.

With a good accountant you can avoid so many taxes that you can pay less tax as a self employed millionaire than a lot of people earning minimum wage.
