How's your host doing? - Free website monitoring!

I figured I'd use my one time announcement to promote this new site. Free accounts are being offered while it's being tested and developed.

http://www.wsmonitor.com/

Everyone wants to compare their host to the competition...and here's a free way to do just that, while getting accurate readings on your own sites' uptime.

You get 5 free online targets to do with whatever you please. Keep tabs on your own sites or servers, or compare your uptime to the competition.

Any other suggestions for a product like this?

There are plenty of completely free services that offer the same product, either server side, or through the web.

Would be nice if notifications could be sent to multiple email addresses . . .

Thanks! That's something we currently offer to some of the paid accounts, and will get to the free accounts down the road. We are consistently adding options and stats.

I definitely dig their service. it's pretty handy for us, especially when trying to diagnose network problems

How often do you "ping" or send an update to my server to test if it's down or not?

Right now it's every 5 minutes, it pings up to 5 targets for the free accounts.

Thanks TaDoW!

We've been using it for the same thing, and hope to add more geographical points to monitor from in the following year.

Nice offer. What makes this different from the many other web monitoring services out there? Just wanna know cuz I'm interested.

At the moment, not a whole lot. We've been using different versions of this software for our own monitoring of servers. Now we're making it available to others...and in the process, we're trying to widen our base to test from.

That looks like a good service, but it requires setting things up on the server. We're trying to make things simpler. WSMonitor doesn't require any setting up on the server, no FTP logins needed, etc. You can monitor your sites, servers, routers, or someone elses in just moments with no setup.
