Do you use butter or margarine?
I found this article quite... interesting:
The difference between margarine and butter? Consider butter.... Both have the same amount of calories. Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams. Margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter according to a recent Harvard Medical Study. Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods. Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added! Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods. Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years. Now for Margarine... Very high in Trans Fatty Acids... Triple risk of Coronary Heart Disease.. Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) Lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol) . Increases the risk of cancers by up to five fold... Lowers quality of breast milk . Decreases immune response... Decreases insulin response. And here is the most disturbing fact.... NOW HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING! Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC...This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance). YOU can try this yourself: purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things: no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something) . it does not rot or smell differently.. because it has no nutritional value, nothing will grow on it...even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast? I may be switching to butter soon. Actually I prefer butter, and am not sure why I didn't start buying it long ago. Thoughts? |
margarine tastes like shit, and I won't allow my wife to buy it.
whipped butter in a tub is the only way to go. |
I haven't bought margerine in years. No matter what it is, baking, melting for popcorn, spreading on toast... real butter all the way.
What does margerine have going for it? It's dirt cheap. Oh, because that makes me feel healthy. |
Butter at all, except I am in Alaska :)

Ever make your own butter? Just take a pint of room temperature cream and shake the crap out of it. Instant butter.

It's actually on my list of science projects to do this week with the kidlet. I read that email a long time ago and haven't eaten margarine since, unless I'm at my parent's house - all they buy is Parkay. Blech. Do you guys find that sweetened or unsweetened butter tastes better? |

Margarine is some foul chemical shit. |
I like simple pleasures. Like butter in my ass and a lollipop in my mouth. Call me crazy. Call me a pervert.

I use " I can't believe it's not butter", I have no idea if it's margarine or what the hell it is. But I liked the Fabio ad on tv, it was cheap, and tastes good, so that's what I buy!

But any molecule is one molecule away from another. It's like saying "any person is just like any other person except for their entire body and mind". Perhaps they mean "atom". But even then, come on. Water is one atom away from hydrogen peroxide, SO DON'T DRINK IT. O2 is one atom away from poisonous CO2 so don't breathe! As well, of course adding hydrogen will change the molecular structure. Adding H+ to OH- makes water, should you avoid that? I like to use an analogy for these situations. The article had validity without trying to get technical. When they did, it made the writing worthless. Here is my analogy. Don't frost a perfectly good cake (The basis of the article) with shit (The technical terms), cause noone will eat it. |
Hmmmmm butter
|
brrr...dont like this shit
