How big is the average e-Book

We're going to write an eBook on some health subject and are wondering how big it basicly is. If we want to sell it for 14,95, how much effort should we put in it?

What is the best e-Book software?

Oracle Porn 01-06-2004 04:43 PM

Its more how good is it and not how long is it.

How? My ICQ is 125586484

4 pages is generally best... But you should charge $99.97 for it. That would beat 95% of the competition no probs.

hudson 01-06-2004 05:24 PM

I got two ebooks about adwords, one is about 100 pages the other is 200. First one sells for $49 and the second one $69.

First one is 50% upsell. Second one is much better.

Got both for free, so what do I care

Naughty 01-06-2004 05:35 PM

4-200 pages. Funny.

cheekycherry is kidding I presume.

hudson 01-06-2004 05:58 PM

BTW, the 100 page ebook has wide margins, etc...pretty light weight.

just cover all the material so people don't feel like they are being ripped off and you are fine

Naughty 01-07-2004 08:37 AM

Almighty? How does one get in touch with ya?

Wiz 01-07-2004 09:18 AM

Ebook?

50 pages , price 9,95

Almost all ebook convert 1:20 with this patern

GeXus 01-07-2004 09:21 AM

25 pages... Advertise it as the "no bullshit approach", and sell it for 12.99

Naughty 01-07-2004 09:28 AM

I already found some good stuff I can use for my book. Since Almighty is MIA, what is good software to create the eBooks, so that only people who actually buy it can read it?

The length of the book does not matter -- The content (perceived benefit) is important. You can have a great deal of well-written details in a small book or you could ramble through a forest.

How did you determine the price 14.95? I'll assume your research determined that the price was competitive for your effort required to produce this book. If the buyer perceives no cost benefit it won't matter what you write about. Example, why should I purchase your book for 14.95 when others offer the same information for 12.95, or worse, better information for 29.95?

Hopefully, if your writer is good, production to market will be quick. You can then see how many sales are required for you to break even or profit.

Personally, I use FrameMaker, but I'm old school.

Naughty 01-07-2004 09:51 AM

Coyote, I agree on everything.

We're just researching the price of products that are in the same area. I did see the eBooks are more expensive than some of the best books around you can buy in the store. I think that is weird, so I am trying to offer at least the same info for a better price.

I'll have a look at framemaker.

Naughty 01-07-2004 10:18 AM

eBook Generator any good?

Coyote 01-07-2004 10:56 AM

Yes. eBooks is simply an 'export' feature of Frame.

The biggest hurdle is the learning curve of FrameMaker, if you intend to write your books yourself. Frame is an actual publishing program, unlike word, pagemaker, etc.

If you are requesting applications from writers, specify Frame as a requirement. Anyone who has worked with Frame can setup your books and begin production fairly quickly. It is a simple matter to export/format a resulting e-book.

the two google adwords ebooks...goldmans and google cash...were both pdf files. I looked at some ebooks about search engines or ppc stuff and couldn't stand the format....imho, pdf is much better

That's of course pretty obvious, lol. I'll try to make it a website in a book form.
