Vhs -> Dvd

I have been trying to figure a way to copy a bunch of vhs movies to dvd. Does anyone happen to know of 'dubbing device' that would speed up the process. I'd like to avoid having to copy each movie via stream to a computer, encode it, and then burn to dvd.

I've seen the dvd recorders that attach to a home entertainment system, and those would be faster than the computer solution if I could play a vhs tape and then record from there. The process still requires that the movie has to be played in real time... which with a few hundred movies isn't entirely effective.

Any suggestions, or past experience doing this?

There is a whole line of combo dvd-vhs players now. Not expensive either!

Sure.. Download the movies from the Net. (You do own the copies). Then burn them on a DVD.

2 steps instead of 4.

Don't buy a DVD/VHS combo, this has to be the stupidest marketing idea ever.. Just let go of this 40 year old technology..

:ak47: TAPES

Yea, I know about the combo players. I'd just like to get rid of these things to clean up space.
