Can I chargeback a Visa debit card transaction?

I bought something with a Visa debit card, it never got delivered and the company doesn't answer my emails. Can I chargeback the transaction?

yes. debit cards work exactly the same as credit cards, except that they are attached to your bank account.

More than likely you can..unless you have a bank that's a complete a**hole.

I've successfully gotten credits on my debit cards when there was a problem. Check with your bank to make sure.

Yes, you can, but call your bank to be certain.

I've done it before to this hosting company that wouldn't answer my phone calls or emails and they never set up my site. It is possible at my bank, but maybe not yours. Call the number on the back of your card and act all freaked out like someone stole your money and they'll help you. Don't mention charge back just ask them what you should do if you paid a company and they never delivered their product.

I think it depends on if you used credit or debit. When I go to a store, sometimes they'll ask me if I want to use credit or debit. If you use credit, I would think you can do a chargeback, cause your going through Visa. If you use Debit, then it's no different then writing them a check. You might be able to do a a return on the debit.

It's really up to what your bank says. A bunch of num-nuts in GFY are going to be able to give you a true answer. Only your bank can.

I definately think it's possible. As said above call your bank..

Ya, I have done it. If you used it as a credit card, then of course. You are still under Visa regulations when you use it that way.

basschick 01-06-2004 09:56 AM

we've done it on citibank.

pradaboy 01-06-2004 11:32 AM

Yes you can chargeback or dispute a debit purchase. Contact your bank and tell them that you want to dispute a charge on your account.
