Would you EVER work at a fastfood joint?

Assuming the worst happens and you are desperate for cash, would you consider working at a fastfood chain?

Of course, I'm not going to let the people I care about go without a roof over their head.

and I could steal straws and packets of sauce. :Graucho

Why work at McDonalds when there's crime... at least you could still tell people what you did for a living.

"Me? I'm a bank robber!"

Exactly. I'd suck it up and work. Honest work sure beats illegal work any day. To me, at least.:2 cents:

No, I have plenty of work skills and a number of certifications that I'd never have to go to that level of "serving" people.

fusionx 01-06-2004 12:50 AM

I've been practicing...

"Would you like fries or internet access with that cheeseburger, Sir?"

What do ya think? Do I have a shot?

Assuming it came down to that. Would you do it? Or apply for welfare?

I don't ever see there being a reason for it to get to that point... even if you have nothing, if you are the least bit resourceful and can think outside the box then there are always ways to make money that are less painful than fast food.

I worked in a pizza place as a teenager, and that was enough to make me decide "never again."

Assuming in the unlikely event it came down to that, then I would have to consider it.

However, let me rephrase my statement:

Even if I was in a wheelchair and the internet exploded, I could take a management position in a beef of equine production or reproduction facility in a consultant capacity or lab, among several other options.

Exactly. I'd get me one of those sticks with a nail in it and go to work.

Beats saying, "You want that biggie sized or great biggie sized?"

That's true, never thought of that. Hey, as long as its honest work.

basschick 01-06-2004 01:13 AM

hey, at least if you pick up cans, you're your own boss. fast food work is very high pressure, and there are lots of jobs with less pressure.

or there's work like babysitting that usually pays more than mcd. i like kids, so that could work if i needed a lower paying job in an emergency. also i used to make candles and sell them to stores on melrose, and i even still have my molds, dyes, wicks and some wax. so i could do that. or i could give guitar lessons, make web pages, or perhaps work at our p.o. box place.

i'd only work in fast food if i'd exhausted every other alternative. and i seriously doubt it would come to that.

SmutGiant 01-06-2004 01:23 AM

I have never experienced a job first hand. I have been in business for myself since I was 12 years old.

I would say, why the fuck not. If it really came down to it, yeah I guess you need to do something to survive. Like mentioned above, as long as it's good honest work.

It's funny how most webmasters are the same. I've been slinging shit since I was 4 or 5. My house could blow up the same day the banks closed down with all my money and I would still be just fine without a "job".
