Ive eaten ostrich , rattlesnake , wild boar , moose , rabbit , and almost anything you can image .. and I was gonna try this , but it really turned me off for some reason .. not sure, the dark, dark red I think .. so I fed it to him . 2 sirloins actually , so maybe its a shock to his gut

Dunno man but deer meat cooked right is the best. I could live on it by itself.

Furious_Male 01-05-2004 10:56 PM

Maybe the stuff just settled in his gut wrong. Dogs can have gastric problems just like humans. They kinda just lay there when they arent feeling good. Check his gums make sure they are nice and pink. Just to be sure there isnt something else wrong with him like a twisted stomach or a blockage etc.

They make venison treats and stuff for dogs. Its not bad for them when prepared normally.

did he kill the deer?

WebTitan 01-06-2004 07:18 AM

ok, showing my redneck side....

it is fine for them, BUT it must either be cooked fully, or have been frozen for atleast 30 days to kill any parasites. NEVER fresh and raw

Damn, you gave the venison to the dog?! I LOVE the stuff, it's fabulous. Leech the gaminess out by soaking in milk or saltwater overnight, then slap the steaks on the gril or flour them and make stew....

Damn, I'm hungry now. :(

The shit thats in dog food scares me , and its the cheapest shit thats the worst for him , but with the expensive stuff makes him shit all over , so I was sorta testing him ,
I figure a deer worth of meat would last quite a bit , but it seems to fuck with his stomach .

With all the hunters here , I get it given to me all the time .

mikeeee 01-06-2004 07:40 AM

no. Dog meat is bad for deer.

Wilbo 01-06-2004 07:52 AM

When I lived in W.V. the locals used to go hunting just to get dog food for the month. They coulda cared less about the hunting laws. If they were outta dog food it was time to go hunting, no matter what time of year it was.

pornguy 01-06-2004 09:27 AM

Most of my neighbors also feed the hunting dogs derr meat.. But it does need to be fully cooked... And I think on the grill it tastes best...

The wild life comission has put a stop to out of season hunting around here... They have a fake deer that they will put in a field that has a built in computer to register shots to it, and also has a camera built into the eye. They that site half a mile away and monitor it for hits...

It's actually kind of funny. Some of the video that has been released on local tv shows the guy shooting getting pissed and looking at his gun, because the knows that he hit the deer, but it did not fall over or run!!!
