avi to vcd?
OK for all your out there that might be able to help me with this problem I appreciate it before hand, so here is my problem:
I have an avi which is 608x256 (widescreen) and I tried using WinMPG to convert it to MPEG1 so I could put it on a VCD, but when WinMPG converts it, it changes it to 352x240 which is fullscreeen, I looked all through WinMPG and no where does it give me the ability to set the output size. So my question is this, is there any other software out there you know of that will let it stay the original size or let me set output size? Prefer freeware or affordable, thanks for your help. |
Try TMPGEnc, excellent program and its free :)

It is possible it is PAL because when I open it in WinMPG it is PAL checked and I have to change it to NTSC. The file name when I downloaded it was this: Cradle_2_The_Grave_(2003).DcN.ShareReactor |
Ok I finally got it I think, I jsut bought this convertor from www.cucusoft.com and it works great it seems, I bought the pro version for $25 and it allows me to do 608x256 using mpeg1 or mpeg2, now if Nero can keep the ratio size when burning the vcd I will be a happy camper:)

Ok, now it seems I have another problem. I took the avi which is 608x256 and converted it to MPEG1 using Cucusoft AVI to MPEG1 feature, keeping the same ratio of 608x256 to allow for widescreen vcd.
My problem is this, the MPEG plays fine on my PC with wmp but when I go to burn it with Nero to cd using teh VCD burnign feature I get a popup saying that it is not compliant and blah blah blah, so I read on vcdhelp.com to just click disabling standard compliance and burn it as it is. So after doing this I pop the vcd into my dvd player which supports almost every format made to date including mp3, vcd, cd, cd-r, cd-rw, svcd and etc. etc. and it says NO PLAY on the screen, what the hell does this mean? I hit play on the remote and it will not play, but when I tried it earlier letting nero do standard compliance it played but resized it to 352 so everyones head was tall as a building hehehe. Hopefully some of you out there that burn dvd's and vcds can offer some help, thanks in advance... |
