Webmasters who bitched about TGPs linking their gallery without permission.
 

remember when a lot of webmasters were bitching about TGPs they didn't submit to listing there gallery anyway. Were they stupid as fuck or were they smart as hell?

I don't remember that they bitched about google picking up their galleries. So maybe the traffic was better or something.

Any way, I think that they were stupid as hell; I mean isn't the point of submitting galleries is to get as much traffic as possible.
And if they were not stupid for complaining then are sponsors stupid for using hosted galleries that are posted everywhere?

Are any of these complainers still in business.

I just gotta know.

I thought these people were complete idiots. I mean if their gallery wasn't converting couldn't they just change the banners;
Or just delete the gallery and display gallery not found Or use htaccess to block a really shitty tgp?

I thought those people complaining were hysterical. If they don't like traffic, then by all means .htaccess a site that spiders galleries.

I know some TGP owners didn't like it. They claimed that other sites were stealing their links. But if these site were stealing then so was google, altavista, webcrawler etc...
They claimed copyright violation but I wondered how they could claim to own a copy right to my URL that linked my gallery.
Kind of like copyrighting my phone number so that only they could call me. hehehehe!

Exactly! - I post a gallery, it is my gallery not the tgp's - I am doing it soley for advertising my sites or any site I decide to promote.

If the tgp accepts my gallery - Bonus -
If three other new tgps lift that gallery - Bonus exposure -
If a cju site takes that gallery and uses it - Extra traffic -
Who gives a fuck who go that gallery provided the site that lists is is a legal site?

The subject is not as simple as you make it out to be.

If you host a gallery and the traffic is so bad your conversions are 10K+ to 1 or zip, you're just paying for bandwidth. I care where my traffic comes from.

Is someone image stealing? In otherwords just downloading the images without the advertising, thus no conversions?

I don't want my galleries with my recip on the same site that shows CP. When I submit galleries to other sites, I try to check them out a bit first.

The SEs represent a different aspect. As we've all learned, SE traffic is typically the best.

A couple points for thought.

The only time I can think of that someone could legitimately bitch about it is if they had made a gallery specifically for one tgp to test the traffic (for paid submissions maybe), and then someone screwed up their numbers by listing it elsewhere...

otherwise they're just whiners.

I'm generally against people linking to my galleries.

E.G You send your hentai niche gallery to The Hun, it gets accepted. Some ebony cj harvests my gallery... great more $$$ down the drain thanks to untargetted traffic. Then some chinese site decides to link to the gallery, hurrah banned country traffic!

Sometimes you submit a niche gallery, and it really really doesnt help getting 'free traffic', as some of you put it.

Othertimes you use a freehost... submit, try to get as much traffic and make 5 sales oh yay another $150 in the bank, and some free exposure.

However SE traffic is a different case, since it is usually targetted and will generally produce a profit.

Each to there own. Free traffic has its benefits when you have a small site, as you need as much exposure as possible to grow, but even then... untargetted traffic is as good as chinese hitbot traffic.

i could see the owner of the tgp that they stole them from getting mad, but not the person who owns the gallery. its free traffic.

Is there really such a thing as bad traffic or is it more like bad galleries that don't convert.

Why would a CP site list your gallery unless your gallery had CP?

Of course SE traffic is best for conversion ratios; but what about conversion TOTALS. I'd rather have 300k TGP hits than 3k SE hits.
I'm trying to make a lot of money; I'm not trying to make a good ratio. What good is a 1:1 ratio if you only get 1 fucking hit.

Like I said each to there own.
S.E Traffic can convert as low as if you know what you're doing 1:3-4 while sometimes TGP can convert @ 1:50k . Give me the SE hits over the TGP anyday :/

I could pay yahoo $600 to list a porn link at PR99 or I can eat a $100 bandwidth bill and get listed PR4 on their site.

These TGPs don't list your gallery for very long but the SE listing is permanant.

I really dont like TGP's taking my galleries I had some asian tgp's taking my galleries from madthumbs these guys could send you 100k a day but you made no sales from them. I added them to my httacess and blocked them. As for getting more google traffic to galleries I allready have my own system for that and dont need tgp's to get them listed.

How do you track which TGPs send you sales?

Could be a point; but for the record 80% of all Japanese can read enough english to complete to signup form. Don't know much about chinese traffic though.

I've got galleries going back 3 years that I haven't deleted off my servers. A lot of TGPs pick these up visa spider and I'm cool with the free traffic, but there's some sites I don't want traffic from, such as sites that have animal porn or lolita crap on them. Sponsors see you have galleries on these sites promoting their stuff and they think you're encouraging it.

I only submit to 25 tgp's I have my own little system going so I have a fair idea what tgp's are producing sales I have a diferent url for most tgp's so I can track sales via url.
You dont need to submit to hundreds of tgp's to get mass traffic I have over 500k most days. Im very selective and know my niche and what works for me.

i do not want anyone taking or using them, they already recieve enough hits and i already know the traffic.

there is no point for me to get extra hits.

So if you get listed on a site that spiders galleries and they send you a couple of signups you will credit those to another TGP that you actually submit to? Something about that logic seems flawed to me. Even if you blow an extra 20 GB of bandwidth, who cares? It's so cheap these days. The only reason I can see to block anyone is because they can not be converted (e.g. Chinese). Unless you can tell for sure where those sales are coming from, I wouldn't block anyone. Just a suggestion though. What you do with your traffic is your business.

I have yet to see a sponsor that could capture the reffering TGP URL that linked to my Gallery. They can only get the URL of my gallery as far as I know.

If a sponsor comes across your gallery on an illegal site and sees that you don't have a recip to that site in your gallery then I think they are smart enough to know that you didn't submit to that site.

Oh, so when a crappy TGP picks up one of those galleries they make a separate URL on your server so that you can track thier sales. :arcadefre

Several years ago people would get mad at TGPs for listing them because bandwidth cost so much. People would submit to the TGPs that they knew sent quality traffic because they knew it probably wouldn't waste bandwidth, but if some low quality site with tons of foreign leeches listed you then your bandwidth bill might be several times what you made from the gallery. That's not the case so much these days.

I only block some of the big asian tgp's that where just burning my BW after 5 years of doing galleries I can normaly tell how many sales a gallery will get from each tgp when I get the content ready I guess its just a experance thing. I really dont want sites like sex oceans listing me.

Several years ago I earned an average of $40 a gig on TGP traffic. I used to laugh my ass off at people who posted using free hosting with their banners at the top. The only problem free host had in making money is that webmasters would put the body tag at the bottom of the page so that when the freehost script searched their gallery it ended up puting their banners way down at the bottom. :1orglaugh

Bandwidth was higher but signups were easier several years ago.

yeah i agree that these ppl must not know much or just are plain lazy. tho you can't just change the gallery without getting in shit from other tgps you submitted to. i've never had a problem with that aside from these russian tgps linking to my galleries, those guys couldn't buy anything even if they wanted to. i just use htaccess to block em.
