"Lolita" - Legal / Illegal - What are your thoughts about that keyword?

What is this keyword anyway? Isn't it a name?

personally it doesn't mean child porn to me, but, to others it does - so it must have come from somewhere.

it's in my banned words list anyway.

if it has anything remotely related to CP, it's better just to stay clear.

There are much worse words than lolita. It is a very rare name but it was made popular after a movie was made based on a book written by Vladimir Nabokov.

Blame it on the Russians & Japanese if the word LOLITA is banned. They used this word to promote sick shit involving children. Their was actually a movie called LOLITA.

lolita is a 12-17 year old girl who likes to flirt and have sex with older men as popularized by nabokov's rather longwinded book by the same name.

Was quite popular few years ago, many sites had it in their titles and it was ok for VISA :1orglaugh ( like "Lolita Teen", now "Teen Teen Teen" - you tell me what sounds better )...but now it's banned almost everywhere.
That's a pity, since about 30% of surfers looking for lolita, are probably just looking for teens ( for some surfers "lolita" = "teen" and they don't associate it with CP ).

Lolita is a banned term from most ccp's and rightly so as the word refers to girls under 18 years of age.

All websites containing this term should be banned - Along with all websites who promote this stuff.

But take a look at the german market. I don't know the details, but I think that it is heavily regulated by the government ( all free porn behind some domestic AVS ) yet the keyword lolita is huge there. Because it simply means teens in Germany.

I was approached to write several sites for a German company....and most of them were titled with the word 'lolita' somewhere.....it's a perfectly acceptable word there....although, I did talk to my lawyer about any legalities on my end, being American and all that.

So basically for Visa US "lolita" means CP, for VISA international "lolita" = ok ?

But, the reasons for banning this word as an association to pedophilia....is kind of stupid because.....

There were many paysite using the word lolita in thier domain a few years back till visa came out and said the word had to go.
Im talking about paysites run by people in the usa with 18 and over content.

As has been said - This term is acceptable in some languages and not in other - Bound to cause problems.
The internet is a one sphere - And as English is most probably the most common of languages used - Surely it is best to terminate the usage of this word.

German sites carrying/promoting this word are more likely to do so using German, not English -

It would make sense if google and their like would not accept this word, or other words, sentences containing anything to do with cp -

since the term lolita is from the book, and the girl is 14 or under 18 at all times in the story, i'd say it does mean underage.

It definitely opens you up to stricter scrutiny by the police. Also, these types of sites are watched more. You never really know who is under surveillance until a mass arrest/raid is announced.
